As early as last year, reports already came out that actress Jena Malone will have a part in the upcoming superhero movie based on DC Comics “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
The speculations at that time were focused on Jena playing Carrie Kelley, who was the female Robin from the “The Dark Knight Returns.”
With the release of the full-length trailer of the movie during the ComicCon 2015, it was clear that there will be no Robin in “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” as the Boy Wonder is already dead in the film.
According to Bleeding Cool, Jena Malone will actually be playing Barbara Gordon, whose role was previously taken on by Alicia Silverstone in “Batman and Robin” featuring George Clooney and Chris O’Donnell.
With that being said, Malone will actually be playing the character’s alter ego as well, who is known to be Batgirl or Oracle. However, until Director Zack Snyder confirms these latest reports about Jena Malone’s role in the movie, everything is merely speculation at this time.
Sequels and spin-off movies
While “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” has yet to be released on March 25, 2016, the spin-off movie “Wonder Woman” is about to be filmed this coming fall. In addition, the follow-up movie “Justice League” will also begin pre-production in spring of next year, or just about the time when the already expected blockbuster movie hits the global theaters.
We Got This Covered actually came out with juicy information on how Warner Bros and DC Comics finally arrived with the idea of “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
Zack Snyder had the idea to put Batman in a “Man of Steel” sequel. Snyder is the director of “Man of Steel,” while “The Dark Knight” movie series is under the helm of Christopher Nolan.
When Snyder broached the idea to Nolan, the latter was surprised but became supportive of it. But everyone had the assumption that had Nolan directed the upcoming film, he will surely have a different take on the Caped Crusader.
In the movie, Batman will be meeting “Suicide Squad” characters including The Joker, played by Jared Leto, and Harley Quinn, played by Margot Robbie. He will put them behind bars but not before The Joker kills Robin.
The film also shows Batman carrying a machine gun at one point, which means that he may be a more hardened, violence-prone Dark Knight that fans have seen on screen before. The trailer actually showed the many hard knocks he got including the death of Robin, the collapse of the Wayne Enterprise Tower, and the disrepair of the Wayne Manor prompting Bruce Wayne to set up shop instead in a lake house referred to by pundits as the ‘Glasshouse.’
The Boy Wonder’s death
The latest full-length trailer of “Batman vs. Superman” actually confirmed previous rumors that Batman’s sidekick Robin appears to be dead. There was a shot of the costume of Robin in the trailer that has a handwritten graffiti note on it that reads: ‘Haha! Joke’s on you, Batman!’ The writing appears to be the handiwork of The Joker and it is likely that the Boy Wonder died while he and Batman were running after the Clown of Prince of Crime.
However, what fans wanted to know is whether Robin will be featured on the film. It turns out that the answer is yes, albeit very short and a cameo only, perhaps a flashback of how he died.
The Boy Wonder may actually be wearing the suit in the flashback. Latest reports now indicate that Eli Snyder, the teenage son of Director Zack Snyder who shall take on the cameo role of Robin where he will die at the hands of The Joker.
And another surprise is that Jared Leto as The Joker, will also be appearing in the same flashback in a cameo role.

Why does everyone continue to say that because they saw that A robin is dead that another robin can’t be in it. The robin that they showed was most likely Jason Todd, the 2nd robin. Their are more then one
Yeah you’re right one Robin dies another Robin comes in. If Jena Malone plays that Robin then it’s gonna be Carrie Kelley but if she’s Barbara Gordon then she probably will be playing Oracle rather than Batgirl but there’s one issue, Jena’s length of hair despite she dyed her hair red she always kept it too short so i don’t know about that. She’s blonde now. Any suggestions?
If she is going to be Barbara Gordon she should be Batgirl in this movie and the next two solo Batman films and Oracle in the third. Batgirl is one of the most popular female superheroes in history and has been extremely underused in movies. I would rather see her as Batgirl first and later Oracle and from what I have heard Barbara’s legs were cured in the latest comics and she is an older Batgirl now so Oracle might not even be needed.
I don’t know much news about the new solo films but I have heard so far Nightwing is almost confirmed to be in them and the first film is going to focus on the ‘Red Hood’ storyline so it is obvious at this point the dead Robin in Suicide Squad is Jason Todd and it is very likely Tim Drake will be the third Robin in the solo films.
