After the release of three DLCs that brought new characters to the fighting game “Super Smash Bros 4” both on the Wii U and 3DS, Nintendo will be releasing a free update to the Wii U version of the game on July 31 that will come with the highly-anticipated Tourney Mode.
Nintendo has announced the Tourney Mode on the “Super Smash Bros 4” sometime ago but it has been overtaken by the three DLC characters featuring Lucas from “Mother 3,” Roy from “Fire Emblem,” and Ryu from “Street Fighter.”
“Super Smash Bros 4” is also known as “Super Smash Bros” and it was first released in Japan in September and subsequently in North America and in other regions late in October.
The two versions of the game come with the same gameplay features and character roster but with some variations in stages and features. The 3DS comes with the unique Smash Run mode which plays like an old school platform game where players have to get stat boosts, defeat enemies, and take part in a match against three enemies. The Wii U version on the other hand, comes with the Smash Tour mode, which is played like a board game, the Master and Crazy Orders mode, Stage Builder, and more.
New contents and features
The game versions for Wii U and 3DS have received a number of new contents following their release last year. In addition to three DLC characters, extra stages and new features have been introduced by the free updates including sharing options for the 3DS version, the Miiverse stage for the Wii U release among many others, details Geek Snack.
The upcoming update for the Wii U version is going to be big and it shall also include Replay uploads on the gamepad console.
However, both the 3DS and Wii versions of the game are going to receive new stages and Mii Fighter costumes with the upcoming updates.
The Super Smash Bros official Japanese profile has released the images of the new content coming to the “Super Smash Bros 4” on the Wii U and the 3DS.
The Fighter Ballot
While the “Super Smash Bros 4” has received character DLCs in recent months, iDigital Times believes that the most important recent addition to the game is the Fighter Ballot.
The Fighter Ballot actually asks fans to vote for the character whom they would like to see included in the popular fighting game. While its results are not normally available, the feature is actually a reminder to gamers that there is still time to request their favorite characters to be included in the game.
The Fighter Ballot was introduced in April during the Direct. In addition to legacy characters like Mewtwo from “Pokemon” and Lucas, “Super Smash Bros 4” gamers could actually see in theory anyone they want to be the next fighter in the game.
However, gamers should bear in mind that the Fighter Ballot has a deadline of October 3, 2015. But they can vote as many times as they want until October 3. They can likewise vote for third-party characters. However, they should be video game characters only. Gamers should also be made aware that the surprise return of Roy and Ryu to the fighting game are not ballot-related.
Incidentally, Nintendo released the new 1.0.9 update to “Super Smash Bros 4” early this month specifically for the Wii U gaming platform even though the game comes in both the 3DS and Wii U versions.
The latest update came with improvements on the online multiplayer feature of the “Super Smash Bros 4,” ensuring better gaming experience to gamers.
