One of the most dramatic events in “Game of Thrones” is still echoing in the online discussions between fans of the show, and it’s pretty clear at this point that the death of Jon Snow had a deep effect on all fans of the series. And of course, there has been a lot of debate over whether or not the character actually did die, as there have been some strong rumors that he’s in fact still alive.
And indeed, many fans seem convinced that the character is far too important to just be killed off like that, even though we last saw him lying in a pool of his own blood, having been stabbed to death by a band of Night’s Watchmen “for the Watch”. This of course had some immediate effects on the political landscape of the show, and various shifts of power occurred immediately after the character’s apparent death.
And while the show’s producers have been adamant that the character’s death is final and they have no plans to bring him back, fans don’t seem that easily convinced. In fact, every time we hear the producers – or someone else involved with the show – talking about how the character really did die, this seems to drive fans even more towards the conclusion that they’re lying, and Jon Snow is in fact alive.
The most recent evidence that we got came from Belfast, where someone had apparently spotted Kit Harington, the character’s actor, getting off from a London flight with Tom Wlaschiha, his fellow actor who plays Jaquen H’ghar. A reader of a popular fan site for the show was apparently on the flight and he gave some first-hand reports, claiming that the actor really was moving around with fellow co-stars from the show, raising the obvious question – why is he still apparently working on the show if his character is dead for good?
Belfast is exactly where the next season of the show is being filmed, and filming started just a week ago. It’s pretty normal for the show to use Belfast as a setting, as scenes at the Wall and Winterfell are typically shot there.
According to Harington himself, he’s had his death confirmed by the show’s creators, who personally told him that his character was about to meet his demise, and gave him time to prepare for his grand exit. Then, Harington confirmed that his character really was dead for good and he’s not “coming back next season”.
Still, that doesn’t say anything about the seasons afterwards, and it also doesn’t answer the question of his presence in Belfast. There’s really little reason for Harington to be traveling around with the show’s crew if he wasn’t involved in the production in some way, so it’s starting to seem pretty likely that the story about his character’s death is a big lie and the producers actually have something to hide from their fans.
Of course, given the secrecy in which the show is being produced in general, we don’t expect to learn many of those details anytime soon, but as the air date of the new season approaches, we might start hearing the occasional rumor about Harington’s presence on the set and his involvement with filming the new episodes. If he really is playing in the new season, it won’t be long before news of this makes its way to the public, and from then on it will be quite hard for the show’s producers to keep denying the obvious truth that’s right in front of the eyes of all fans at this point.
