Batman: Arkham Knight DLC Gets Mediocre Responses, PC Version Issues to Be Addressed in September!

Things aren’t exactly going well for the latest release in the “Batman” video game franchise. While the title has a lot to offer in terms of gameplay and production quality as a whole, its PC port in particular wasn’t very well done, and it appeared to have been quite rushed. So far, responses have been mostly negative, and rightfully so, as many players seem to be having serious technical issues with the game and are unable to even play it in some cases.

At the same time, the studio has been continuing their planned work on additional content for the game, having just released the “Batgirl” DLC. And while some players were initially happy to get some new content for the game, having already beaten it on consoles, it now seems like the new DLC is not really worth its price, and could have been done a lot better.

Reviews are claiming that its price simply does not correspond to the kind of content that it brings to the table, and it feels more like a cheap reskin with some extra gameplay thrown in, but not worth the price overall. According to a review, the overall length of the new DLC is about half an hour, and the gameplay itself doesn’t feel too different from the main game, and doesn’t offer players anything they haven’t seen during the main missions in terms of playing style.

Sure, Batgirl is a more capable hacker than Batman and this is incorporated into the DLC to some extent, but according to most reviews, it’s more of a gimmick rather than an actual, fully fleshed out feature, and doesn’t make the game feel all that different from the regular version.

Some players have apparently been able to stretch the missions out to an hour or so, but even that doesn’t seem worth the asking price for the DLC pack, and all in all, the studio has been getting quite a lot of negativity about the way they’re handling this game’s extra content.

Meanwhile, it’s been announced that the new content isn’t even going to be released for PC gamers until their version of the game has been fully fixed. It’s currently suffering from various technical issues owing to a poor port, as we said above, and players have been waiting for the developers to release a patch – or a few patches – addressing those problems.

It now looks like they’re going to have to be more patient though, as the fix might not be ready until September. The game will reportedly be relaunched then, after it was pulled from the market by Warner Bros due to the poor reception to its technical state.

And it’s definitely true that a lot of work needs to be done to give the game a more positive reception by players. Technical issues were abundant in the initial PC release, and no amount of simple patching would have fixed the game in its state, it was simply broken in its core. Which is why the studio has now decided to take a step back and fix the problems before bringing the game back to the market.

Which brings up the obvious question, why they didn’t do that before releasing it in the first place. It would have avoided all of this drama and allowed them to enjoy a positive release that brings in even more fans on the PC platform, while also stabilizing their position on the market for future releases.
