‘Reign’ Season 3 to Feature Cross-Pollination Between the English and French Courts

Historical fantasy romance TV series “Reign” will begin its third season on October 9 as announced by The CW last month. Recent spoilers revealed more details about the upcoming season regarding its latest plot, set of new characters, and even an additional Court.

As the release of Season 3 gets near, rumors relating to the TV series is spreading on the internet like wildfire. The show proved that it has a good number of followers as it is currently trending on the internet.

Although the original focus of “Reign” is the French Court, the Latin Post said the show will add the English Court to its story as the final episode of the last season provided a glimpse of Queen Elizabeth. The particular episode raised one big question in the minds of the show’s fans. They want to know whether any character from the French Court will travel to Queen Elizabeth’s English Court and be able to have an interaction with her in the upcoming season.

In an interview with the E! News, Laurie McCarthy, the producer and creator of the show, said they will surely add the cross-pollination plot between the French and English courts. Although the two courts are far from one another, the characters will travel the sea back and forth.

She directly said in her recent interview with Entertainment Weekly that fans will get to see the court of England, even the Elizabethan court, and the characters surrounding her. This is a good development for the story since the scope will become wider, according to McCarthy.

On the other hand, there are recent rumors that the alleged lover of Queen Elizabeth, Robert Dudley, will show up in the English court in the coming season together with his wife, Amy Dudley. The series will allegedly unfold the love story of Robert and Elizabeth that started way back during their childhood days. Robert will act as the Queen’s adviser and friend.

Although he is spending so much of his time with Elizabeth, he will insist that they only have a platonic relationship. This kind of relationship will bother Robert’s wife, Amy, who will become worried about their marriage. She will supposedly try to discover and confirm whether there is a love affair happening between Queen Elizabeth and her husband. Thus, Season 3 might focus on the relationship of the English Queen and Robert.

Aside from the Robert-Elizabeth love affair, McCarthy also hinted the end of the Leith-Greer relationship. Although, Greer loves Leith, she wanted something that can never be taken away like the independence and freedom that having her own income can bring. If she will marry Leith, she will become his property. Thus, Leith will decide to end her relationship with Greer since the latter does not approve of her job.

McCarthy told Entertainment Weekly that Greer will have a new romance while Leith will have a different type of relationship with Princess Claude.

In the upcoming season, another love affair will reportedly intensify and that is between Narcisse and Lola. This would surely anger Queen Catherine de Medici once she finds out.

Meanwhile, a set of new characters is ready to join the upcoming “Reign” Season 3. One rumored character is the English Ambassador to France who will reportedly serve as Queen Elizabeth’s spy inside the French Court. As the character travels between the two courts, the viewers will expect the storyline to unfold intrigues and romance.

Another character who will supposedly join the line-up of third season’s cast is a suave pirate. He is reportedly named Martin and will cause some chaos inside the French Court. In the upcoming season, the reportedly sexy and charming pirate will hunt for his bride among ladies with royal blood. Rumors said he might fall for one of the ladies in waiting of Queen Mary. The lady whom he might choose as his bride might be anyone from Greer, Lola, Kenna or the Queen herself.

In addition to the supposedly new two characters, Charles IX, who is next in line to the throne of France and has the title Dauphin of France, was rumored to reappear in Season 3 after playing his role in the first season of “Reign.”
