Macaulay Culkin Mocked in Social Media for Allegedly Being a Dead Ringer to Charleston Church Shooter

When he was young and was still in the movies, Macaulay Culkin was known to take on the bad guys all by his lonesome armed only with his creativity and innovativeness.

Now that he is no longer an actor, the 34-year-old musician who believes he is a rock performer, Macaulay is getting into lots of controversy on the internet and he cannot do anything about it.

Late last year, reports came out that he was dead. He subsequently debunked those nasty rumors by posting an image of him performing with his rock band The Pizza Underground, which parodies the songs of the group “The Velvet Underground” by changing the lyrics with pizza-themed wordings.

Late last month, Macaulay Culkin made it back to internet circulation once again as he was compared to Dylann Roof, the alleged Charleston church shooter who killed nine people in the incident.

The 21-year-old Roof is from Shelby, North Carolina and he committed the mass shooting at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church on June 17 in Charleston, South Carolina. The congregation is one of America’s oldest black churches and has long been a site for community organization around civil rights.

Just imagine the horror of it all to Macaulay Culkin. A little over seven months after he was rumored to be dead come the insinuations on social media that he was a dead ringer for an alleged criminal

The comparisons of their pictures even went viral and become trending on Twitter. Although many people were having fun with the jokes, others believe that the comparison was unfair to Macaulay Culkin who did no wrong to deserve such treatment, notes Just Jared.

Culkin has not made any comment or anything to dignify the comparison or debunk the silly notions that he looks like the alleged controversial criminal.

Dylann Roof was eventually apprehended by authorities at his hometown in Shelby, North Carolina where he was initially detained before being taken out and put on a plane to go back to Charleston, South Carolina where he would stand trial for his actions.

No longer the child star

Now at 34 years of age, Culkin is no longer remembered as the child star known for his mischievous efforts in “Home Alone.” He has found himself trying his hand at the least thought of music career with a band called The Pizza Underground, who parodies the songs played by The Velvet Underground but with pizza-themed lyrics, notes What Culture.

Culkin and his group are not gifted singers so their four-piece band are often being booed on and off stage, soaked in beer, and generally hated by fans of The Velvet Underground. But the former child actor was the one who actually formed the band back in 2012, fronted previously by Lou Reed. When Reed died the following year, Culkin and his band decided to carry on with their music career.

Some of their music includes “Take a Bite of the Wild Slice” which is a parody of The Velvet Underground’s “Take a Walk on the Wild Side,” and “All the Pizza Parties” which was a comical take on the song “All Tomorrow’s Parties.”

While Macaulay’s foray into music may not have been the biggest low point of his career, it definitely sticks out like a sore thumb as something which has not been given plenty of thought before acting on it.

Short-lived Hollywood career

Speaking of a trip down memory lane, it has been 25 years since Macaulay Culkin had that breakout role in “Home Alone” as a child actor. But to those who have witnessed his foray into the big screen and rather short-lived stint in Hollywood, it appears to be only just a few short years back.

2015 actually marks the 25th anniversary of Macaulay Culkin’s defining Hollywood moment through “Home Alone” as the 34-year-old was spotted sometime in March smoking and strolling all by his lonesome in New York City.
