Andy’s Complicated Relationship with Sam to Continue Being the Focal Point of ‘Rookie Blue’ Season 6

As they try to unravel the latest plotlines of the show, actress Missy Peregrym who plays Officer Andy McNally, is expressing herself on the realities of the ongoing Season 6 of  the Canadian police drama TV series “Rookie Blue.”

Since the show originated in Canada, the series is ahead by at least a month from the US series but there are occasional spoilers along the way.

Peregrym told Zap1it that the cast members have been really careful in speaking with the press in Canada because they would not want to spoil anything to the viewers in America. They want the American fans of the show to get the authentic feeling of seeing it first when they actually watch the series’ episode.

Meanwhile, everything has been in chaos after the hectic explosion that happened at the 15 Division precinct. Andy is under an emotional whirlwind after reuniting with Detective Sam Swarek. Then, she learned that Sam was expecting a baby with Officer Marlo Cruz, played by Rachael Ancheril, Sam’s ex.

Peregrym said that since Andy and Sam’s relationship is looking to be too perfect, they have to find another way to smack it down with something. She added that this is why her team stands out from the crowd because they can be brutally honest with each other. If one feels like a scene should go in a different direction, they would voice it out and push the team to work.

Another mystery that was left hanging during Season 5 was the suspect for the police station bombing. Rumors suggest that this is actually an inside job. The main questions for this are: who would do this and why.

Peregrym said that the series has been evolving in itself, in a way that the audience and the characters themselves do not know who to trust anymore. Last season, Matt Gordon’s character, Staff Oliver Shaw, has had a very rough encounter with Andy. Andy treated him like a father but with the positions changing, it is actually harder to find the balance between politics and greed.

Meanwhile, Peregrym talked to TVLine about her experiences while shooting the series. She said that in terms of the stunt double she had, who she mentioned was Bernadette, they had the scenes cut 50/50. She said she is trying to do as much as she can and whenever she is allowed to. She likes the challenge of the physical requirements of the series, but they also have to be extra careful because she said it is not worth getting hurt. That is why, she would leave the other half of the action parts to her expert double.

As for Andy’s complicated relationship with Sam, she said that it would take so much more than chemistry to work. She said that since both characters have grown so much during the past seasons, they made a choice to work on their relationship by working on their commitment and communication. The main conflict with Andy now is that she is losing her place in the relationship, especially after hearing that Sam is having a baby with another woman.
