If you have been following the story line for The Vampire Diaries, then you know the end of the sixth season was one to remember. So much has changed for the Mystic Falls group over the last five seasons that fans were not sure if the show was going to be back for a seventh season. Shortly before the last season ended, it was announced the a seventh season will be added and that just meant that fans were going to have to wait and see how this story ends.
The Vampire Diaries is a television show based on a book series of the same name and it started all the way back in 2009. It follows a bunch of supernatural beings in a fictional town called Mystic Falls. The series focuses on a protagonist by the name of Elena Gilbert as she falls in love with a vampire named Stefan Salvatore. It is because of that relationship Elena is pulled into the supernatural world as well.
The show is great, fans love it and socially it is a hit each week that a new episode plays on the CW. The first season averaged about 3.6 million viewers per episode and even though that is down just a little since then, the show is still going strong. Most of the main characters have been in the hunt for the duration of the show, but in April of this year, Nina Dobrev (Gilbert) announced that she would be leaving the show after the sixth season.
Well, this pointed to at least one death that fans were going to see and one less character that will not “be around” in the seventh season. The thing about The Vampire Diaries as a show is that it seemed like nobody could be killed in a permanent way. Everyone was able to come back, or at least had the option, so this announcement was sort of a shock to the loyal fans that loved to watch her on the show. The seventh season is set to start up in October of this year and it will bring plenty of drama and hopefully answers with it.
Fans have been watching and waiting on two new romances on the show. Damon has been getting quite chummy with Bonnie, while Stefan and Caroline has been doing the same. Both of the rumored relationships would be ones that were not expected through the first few seasons of the show. Fans are up in arms about them, since Elena is really the center of the love story with Stefan, but it looks like things had to change and fans will just have to see how season 7 pans out.

What answers do the fans want? It’s simple, Nina Dobrev and her character Elena left the series. Unfortunately the fans are behaving like she is still the main part of the cast and all of next season should revolve around her. I only hope storylines will be able to move forward, give variety, rather than dwelling, pining and crying, otherwise what was the point in continuing?
Let’s not forget Elainas brother and Tryler left too. This will reallynbe sometjingntyo see.
In a way I wish they had done Elainas dealth different or change it that Kies spell was broken and Elana can wake up and leave to start over, leave Damon for good. End that for good because the book was on her and its not right to change a series of books about a story about her.
The end should be the end with her finishing her end.
Comments welcome and also this ends all the bad bashing that has gone on since the middle of season 6. I hate hearing her name dragged threw the mud, this way its over…
I think next season would be better than others . Because I love both Bonnie and Damon and it looks nice to see them as a couple. And

I agree with Jen. Nina left the show and the writers should’ve either killed off the character of Elena or had Elena leave town. I don’t want anyone pining or dwelling on Elena in Season 7. I want the show to move forward without looking back. Damon doesn’t need to be shackled to sleeping Elena he needs to move on and move on with Bonnie. Those two will be the only reason I watch season 7, I can’t stand forced/chemistry free steroline.
Totally agree with you Jen. If they aren’t going to move forward then why should the show continue?
I think that season 7 is going to be ok…and a lot of fans, including me, will be disappointed by how the story goes WITHOUT Elena.. She’s the star of the whole series, you can’t just take out the most important character right before things start to Pop off..
I think Season 7 will be just as great as always. We’re used to cast members leaving by now, but the show is still as intriguing! Yes ‘Elena Gilbert’ won’t be in the show, but that leaves more room for ‘Steroline’ and, hopefully, ‘Bamon’! We should not dwell on the fact that Nina has left, enjoy season 7… Ian Somerhalder is still in, so what’s the problem?!
Well the problem the books were on Elana not DamonDamon, so somehow that needs to be fixed, as they always say ” there’s always a loop hole ” lol.
Comment welcomed.
Honestly I didn’t want elana to leave the show, she has been the foundation of the show for 6 years and now she’s suddenly gone? This would be grand if the show ended on season 6 but season 7 could possibly lose the connection that many viewers made with the protagonist, Elena Gilbert. I believe that is what makes the show so special, getting to know all of a character.
