“Game of Thrones” ended its fifth season on a dramatic note, and fans of the show are wondering what they are going to see in future episodes once season 6 rolls around. Not many people expected the developments we got, and while most of those who’ve been following the production had gotten used to the idea of seeing their favorite characters get killed off by this point, it still came as a surprise to many.
And now, season 6 is going to bring a lot more drama to the production, as most fans are expecting the tense developments to continue. However, all of this has put George R.R. Martin in a peculiar spot, as the author now has to finish the next book in his series faster, before the next season of the show comes. “Winds of Winter” is still being worked on, but it’s not clear when the book is going to be ready – the only thing we know for sure from Martin himself is that he wants to get it finished and out on the market before “Game of Thrones” returns for its sixth season.
That’s because the new season of the show will likely significantly spoil the story in the books for fans, and not many people want to find out what happens in the storyline before they’ve had a chance to read the book themselves. Of course, there’s always the possibility of simply not watching the show until the book has been released, but that only works in theory.
In reality, it’s practically impossible to avoid “Game of Thrones” spoilers on the Internet, as the finale of season showed us very clearly. Those who don’t want to spoil the story for themselves will have to put a lot of effort into avoiding certain messaging boards and similar places on the Internet, a task that’s pretty much impossible.
Because of this, the author has committed to his work on the next book, and is determined to get it out before the next season of the show is ready to air. He has even been cancelling some of his appearances just so he would have more time to write the book, and even though his cancellations have disappointed some fans, most of them seem to agree that they prefer to see him working on the next book instead of meeting fans. Plus, once the book is out, Martin will have plenty of time for fan interactions, as lots of people would likely want to get a chance to meet the author.
