Just like with every other product that Apple has released since the beginning of time, the Apple Watch was a huge success. The watch sold almost 3 million units and the bands that you can get have been proven to be a great add-on. The new Apple Watch has been for sale since the beginning of April and since then it has been reviewed plenty of times with most of them coming back to be quite positive.
Not only did Apple sell almost three million smartwatches, one report suggested that about 17 percent of buyers decided to pick up an extra band to go along with their new Apple Watch. The research company has been watching the receipts from Apple shoppers and when looking at more than 20,000 shoppers, 17 percent of them purchased more than just the watch. If you are not able to get the Apple Watch, there are a few reasons for that.
One of them might be that you cannot afford it since Apple placed a price tag on the Apple Watch Sport model that reads $349. The other reason might be the fact that you are required to have the iPhone 5 or newer in order for it to communicate with the new Apple Watch. If you think that entry level Apple Watch is expensive, that is nothing as the company has at least one covered in 18-karat gold that sells for more than $17,000. Since April, consumers were only able to order the device online.
In the last few weeks, Apple has opened the ordering up so that consumers can reserve and pickup the Apple Watch for those that live in the United States, United Kingdom or Australia. Apple is a little late to the smartwatch game as other companies have a couple of options for consumers on the market already. That does not mean much to Apple as the company has still seen plenty of success with the new device. Other companies like Motorola, Pebble and LG have smartwatch options for you if you have no plans to own an iPhone. Now that the Apple Watch is a proven winner, it is time for Apple to work on the software.
According to one report, Apple is going to be releasing a new version of the operating system that powers the watch, called WatchOS. That was just announced earlier this month and the new software is supposed to bring a number of improvements including apps that run on the watch, as well as other custom options. The reports are just starting to hit the web, so there is little information about it, but the newly updated software is expected in the fall months of this year.
