Google Nexus 7 vs. HTC Nexus 9 vs. Samsung Galaxy Edge: The Value-for-Money Tablets in the Range

If you have been on the lookout for tablets for a while now, there are a couple of options available for you to choose from. The Asus Google Nexus 7, HTC Nexus 9 and Samsung Galaxy Edge are the three viable options available, apart from the pricier Microsoft Surface Pro 3 and Apple’s iPad range. Hence, if you are not willing to spend much dough on the device, the following tablets answer your call.

Google Nexus 7:

The Nexus 7 measures 198.5 x 120 x 10.5 mm and weighs 340 grams. It boasts of a 7-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD capacitive display sporting 16 M color definition 800 x 1,280 pixel resolution and 216 ppi density.

The device portrays Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and supports multi-touch up to ten fingers. It is available in 8/16/32 GB variants and does not feature expandable storage. It runs on Android JellyBean v4.1 and is upgradable to v4.4.2 KitKat and v5.0 Lollipop.

It draws power from a 1.2GHz Quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, Cortex A9 CPU with ULP GeForce GPU. The Google Nexus 7 further sports a 4,325 Li-Ion non-removable mAh battery. It is not a GSM device and supports Wi-Fi only.

HTC Nexus 9:

The HTX Nexus 9 is the latest tablet in the Nexus series and launched within the past month. Hence, speculations regarding the device are high, and customers want to pitch it against its predecessor in order to figure out the updates.

The Nexus 9 measures 228.2 x 153.7 x 7.9 mm and weighs 425 grams. It sports an 8.9-inch IPS LCD capacitive display sporting 16 M color definition, 1,536 x 2,048 pixel resolution with 281 ppi density.

It draws power from an Nvidia Tegra K1 chipset with a 2.3 GHz Dual-core Denver CPU and Kepler DX1 GPU. It runs on Android KitKat v5.0 and draws power from a 6,700 mAH Li-Po battery.

Samsung Galaxy Edge:

This device measures 151.3 x 82.4 x 8.3 mm and weighs 174 grams. It features a fingerprint sensor and S-pen stylus. It sports a 5.6-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen with 16 M color definition and 1,600 x 2,560 pixel resolution along with 524 ppi density. The screen is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The Samsung Galaxy Edge boasts of a 16 MP Primary Camera with optical image stabilization, dual-video recording, LED flash and autofocus, etc.

The Nexus 9 runs on Android KitKat v4.4.4 and is upgradable to v5.0 Lollipop. It draws power from a 2.7 GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, Krait 450 CPU and Adreno 420 GPU. The Nexus 9 draws power from a 3,000 mAh Li-Ion battery.
