Eva Mendes will be reprising her role as undercover Customs agent Monica Fuentes in the upcoming eighth installment of the very successful “Fast & Furious” franchise when it hits worldwide theaters on April 14, 2017.
Eva Mendes first appeared in the movie of the franchise back in 2003 during “2 Fast 2 Furious,” the first sequel. She also momentarily appeared in the post-credits of “Fast & Furious 5” back in 2011 where she said that Letty Ortiz was still alive.
Her likely return to “Fast & Furious 8” means that she has not been part of the five previous movies of the franchise including the most recent one, “Fast & Furious 7,” which is now listed as the fourth highest grossing movie of all time.
Along with her pretty face, Mendes will also be causing a stir on the relationship of Dominic ‘Dom’ Toretto, played by Vin Diesel, and Letty Ortiz, portrayed by Michelle Rodriguez, reports KpopStarz.
There have also been reports saying that Cody Walker, the brother of Paul Walker who pinch-hit for him as Brian O’Conner in “Fast & Furious 7,” will also be back in the upcoming sequel though not as Brian but an altogether new character.
Kurt Russell who played Mr. Nobody will also be returning. And instead of UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, it will be the turn of UFC women’s straw weight champion Joana Jedrzejczyk who will make her acting debut in “Fast & Furious 8.”
Universal Studios however has yet to make an announcement or issue a statement to confirm or deny these initial reports, so all these information are mere speculations at this time.
Big Apple as location
In several interviews, Vin Diesel revealed that aside from the fact that the next sequel to the very successful “Fast & Furious 7” will be set in New York City, it shall also have a meatier role for veteran actor Kurt Russell.
If one is to factor in the crowded city of New York to the kind of fast cars and driving that “Fast & Furious” films have been known for, it looks way off. But that would be the beauty and thrill of the “Fast & Furious 8,” according to Vin Diesel. It would be the first time that the franchise would have the Big Apple as its location.
When the subject about Kurt Russell was mentioned, Vin Diesel started talking about “Fast & Furious 8.” He said that Russell was taken in into the movie because the objective was to make more movies with him on it.
Diesel even hinted that it would be a trilogy starting from “Fast & Furious 7” so fans should not just be looking at the eighth but most likely the ninth installment of the franchise sometime into the future.

Do not make a love triangle it will ruin everything. Dom n Letty are married and deserve happiness. In the beginning in 2000 Michelle didn’t want to play a love triangle with Paul n Dom and they changed it. Well there doesn’t need it again. Please. It will make alot of people unhappy.
