“Guardians of the Galaxy 2” will be sort of a prequel as it shall reportedly focus on the back stories of Peter Quill and the other guardians so that the fans, particularly those who have not been reading about the characters in Marvel comics, will get to know them better.
While Director James Gunn and lead actor Chris Pratt have not specifically mention anything about the plotline of “Guardians of the Galaxy 2,” reports coming out said that one of the key storylines of the upcoming movie is determining who the father of Peter Quill is, notes Movie News Guide.
In another report, Chris Pratt was said to be in tears after sitting down with Director James Gunn to discuss the plot for the sequel of “Guardians of the Galaxy” shown last year. But the actor has kept mum about the supposed plot and just said that the director has remarkable ideas for “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” and that he is already excited to start filming the movie.
He also hinted that the upcoming movie has a very moving script and he expects it to have an emotional impact on moviegoers too.
He did offer a spoiler by saying that one of the original guardian characters will no longer be back for “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” but did not say who it is going to be. Pratt said that a replacement character will be introduced in the movie nonetheless.
Chris Pratt was also asked in a recent interview who among the Marvel superheroes he would like “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” to cross-over with if given the chance, and he said that he really wants that to be Hulk to teach him how to walk or maybe a fight scene with Captain America.
Casting call
Late in May, Director Gunn announced that casting has already begun for the sequel of the highly-successful “Guardians of the Galaxy” based on Marvel comics. “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” will hit theaters in May 2017.
There have been reports that Director Gunn has started talking to a certain actor trying to convince him to take on a role and become a new member of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Since the director refused to divulge the identity of the actor, it quite naturally set off rumors and speculations, the loudest among which is that the actor is the Oscar-winning and legendary Al Pacino.
James Gunn, Al Pacino, or Marvel Studios has yet to make any announcement or statement to either confirm or deny the report so most of the information flying around should be subjected to thorough scrutiny.
New female characters
It has previously been reported that “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” shall have two new female characters who shall join the Guardians in their quest.
Any of these two female characters may likely be from outer space. Based on the Marvel Comics, any two of these characters may turn up in “Guardians of the Galaxy 2,” including Mantis, Moondragon, Phyla Vell, and Angela.
