Samsung May Officially Roll Out the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to the Samsung Galaxy S5 Very Soon

When the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge officially rolled out to the retail markets in April, they came out of the box already with the Android 5.1 Lollipop on them. Subsequently, the Korean tech giant spared no time in updating them to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop especially in light of Google’s announcement late in May that it shall be rolling out the Android M in the third quarter of this year.

Apparently, Samsung is looking to do the same for the Samsung Galaxy S5, its 2014 flagship smartphone. However, the company cannot commit a timetable and thus an exact date as to when the official Android 5.1.1 Lollipop would come to the Samsung Galaxy S5, cites Sam Mobile.

It could be in a matter of weeks or months but regardless of the official release date, the news was actually more than enough to excite users of the Samsung Galaxy S5.

Samsung is reportedly testing the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on the Galaxy Note 4 so it is likely that either the Galaxy S5 is next or that testing is already being done at this time but only under the radar to avoid detection.

They are also hoping that some of the features that Android 5.1.1 Lollipop has brought to the Samsung Galaxy S6 will also come to the Samsung Galaxy S5 to make everything really worth the wait.

Best time to own an S5

It is now the best time to own a Samsung Galaxy S5 as prices of the Korean tech giant’s flagship smartphone of 2014 has continued its downward spiral following the official release to the retail markets of its very worthy successor, the Samsung Galaxy S6.

Although Samsung’s 2014 flagship smartphone is a powerful and superb all-around handset with a very good camera and incredible battery life, it rated quite poorly in terms of its design, which was almost identical to its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S4, and most especially its cheap-looking plastic housing, which was a hand-off from four years ago.

With the emergence of the Samsung Galaxy S6 with its stylish metal uni-body, the Samsung Galaxy S5 comes down as the last of Samsung’s flagship smartphones with plastic chassis, notes Expert Reviews.

Despite being a powerful smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S5 was a disappointment for the Korean tech company and it was actually the reason why Samsung lost its grasp on its reign as the world’s top smartphone maker last year to Apple with three consecutive quarters of falling revenues.

Bouncing back

In an attempt to bounce back to its lofty status in the global smartphone business, Samsung deviated from its flagship production routine by coming up with a new metal chassis for the Samsung Galaxy S6, which was further improved on by the curved screen of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.

Samsung Galaxy S5 vs. Samsung Galaxy Grand 2

With the advent of the latest flagship smartphones from Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy S5 was uncharacteristically not forgotten at all. In fact, it even drew more interests this year than last year as consumers started comparing it to the current flagship smartphones of the Korean tech company.
