Despite the clamor of Subaru car owners in the US, the Japanese carmaker will not be coming up with the five-door hatchback model for its upcoming 2016 WRX and WRX STI editions when the sports sedans finally rolls out to the American motoring retail markets soon.
It seems like the decision of the Japanese carmaker has something to do with production schedules and timetable.
As the 2016 Subaru WRX and WRX STI editions will be manufactured at the company’s plant in Japan, the carmaker would be hardpressed to meet the production demands for the Forester, the Outback, the XV Crosstrek, and the Levorg if it will still produce the hatchback model of its WRX STI sports sedan.
Accordingly, the decision to drop the hatchback is meant to add space on the production line for their other hot-selling vehicle lineups all over the world, details Torque News.
But there might be a light at the end of the tunnel for the hatchback variant of the 2016 Subaru WRX STI as the carmaker is already expanding production at its Indiana plant in the US
However, it will still come on stream in 2016 and despite the Indiana manufacturing plant, Subaru will still find it difficult to keep up with the very strong demand of their all-wheel-drive vehicles. That’s in addition to the fact that Subaru plant in Indiana will also start its production of the new seven-seater SUV for the American market.
Listening to customers
As Subaru is known to be a carmaker that listens to its customers, a number of Subaru WRX and WRX STI owners in the US are asking those interested for the five-door hatchback model to come out and start speaking out to make their voices heard by the Japanese carmaker.
Subaru documents every customer’s comment or message or clamor in its customer/dealer services database. The same goes for Subaru America, which accepts customer responses through John Mergen of its customer/dealer services department.
Mergen explained that Subaru always strives for ways to improve its products and appreciates it a lot when customers bring their product interests to the company attention. All requests, comments, or responses will be reviewed and considered by the company’s product management department and will make a recommendation of its decision to the management from there.
A sports sedan
The 2016 iteration of the Subaru WRX is practically the same as its 2015 model, save for the addition of new infotainment features that mostly pushed the price of the vehicle a few notches higher.
Most sedans would like to have that sporty look to impress buyers because having that distinct sports aura immediately gives off the thought the car drives fast like a sports car.
