Apple iPhone 6s Could Have a Serious Front Camera, Rumors Say!

Selfie phones have been getting more and more popular lately, as the concept has been gaining traction with different manufacturers. Now it seems like Apple are also going to join the game, at least according to rumors which claim that the company is planning to release the iPhone 6s with a pretty serious front camera in order to allow their users to take the best selfies possible with a smartphone on the market at the moment.

The camera is reportedly going to have a 1080p resolution, and it’s also going to come with a flash, a unique feature for a front camera on a smartphone even today. This sounds pretty good, but of course Apple’s engineers are still limited by a rather small physical sensor size, so hopefully the camera isn’t going to take pictures that look too distorted or out of the ordinary.

Of course, we wouldn’t expect them to release anything subpar in the first place – the company has been quite good with their developments on the camera front with their phones lately, and the iPhone 6 got particular praise for the quality of its rear camera.

This gives us confidence in what Apple are doing with the iPhone 6s, and if these rumors turn out to be true, the device could be a pretty serious competitor to other companies that have released their own “selfie phones” recently.

There are other rumors about what the phone could be capable of, and most of the information right now is coming from a manifest file in iOS 9. There, developers can see different app capabilities that they can mark for their applications being submitted to the iTunes store, and those include things like “Front60FPSVideo”, “FrontSlomo” and “FrontPanorama”.

From the sounds of it, Apple are trying to bridge the gap between the front and rear camera in terms of what they can do and what they can be used for, and while the idea of taking a panorama selfie sounds a bit strange, we can certainly think of some creative applications.

iPhone 6

We would be surprised if the community of iPhone users don’t come up with even more interesting ideas either, as there definitely seems to be some potential to the special features that the iPhone 6s is being developed with, at least as far as its camera is concerned. Let’s also not forget that this is just a rumor at the moment and we can’t confirm if the new phone will support those features. Just because they’re listed in the app capabilities list of iOS 9 doesn’t necessarily guarantee that.
