The PlayStation Plus Edition of DriveClub Is Almost Done, Reports Claim!

“DriveClub” has been going through some server maintenance in order to get the game ready for its PlayStation Plus Edition, and it looks like things are coming along quite nicely on that project. The game’s director, Paul Rustchynsky, recently announced on Twitter that the studio is currently in their final stages of developing the game, and they will soon be ready for the official release.

However, as usual, “soon” is a very relative term here, as he wasn’t able to actually give an official release date. Judging by the way he was talking about the current development of the game though, we wouldn’t be surprised if it’s actually right around the corner.

At the same time, the studio is also working on private lobbies and a few other features that players have been requesting for some time now. The game is going to get its own companion app too, but this is going to happen at some point after the PS+ Edition has been released to the market. We don’t know if the two will be tied in any way, although the companion app will most likely offer some benefits to those running the special edition of the game.

Evolution also revealed that players are going to get a Velocity Tour Pack during this month, and they have been working on some amazing art for that too. They recently released a preview of the new art that will be featured in the pack, met with positive responses by the game’s community on Twitter. Of course, the final verdict will only come once the pack has actually been released, but it looks like this isn’t very far off right now.

There was also a hint at a new car manufacturer coming to the game, as Rustchynsky said that “a certain Japanese car manufacturer is coming to DriveClub”, but he didn’t specify which company he meant. Of course, there aren’t that many options, so it’s not really hard to guess for some players.

The current season pass for the game is ending in July, and some players have been wondering if the developers are preparing a second one. Rustchynsky could only give a vague cryptic response to that, stating that the company isn’t quite ready to discuss their future plans yet, and they apparently prefer to keep quiet on that issue right now.

A second season pass is not out of the question at the moment though, as there is a lot of content for players to explore in additional packages and the game’s developers could also benefit from the added sales from the season passes.
