After the success of “Avengers: Age of Ultron” last May, Mark Ruffalo revealed that his character, the Hulk, will be sent into space. This statement has led fans guessing that he could join the next “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie.
Though it could mean Marvel is trying to create a solo Hulk movie, reports suggest it is going to be impossible because of Hulk’s complicated copyright case. Still, it is expected that the Hulk will be part of the Marvel cinematic universe in the upcoming films “Avengers: Infinity War Part 1” and “Avengers: Infinity War Part 2.” If this is the strategy that Marvel will use, it is more likely that they will incorporate the Hulk’s story in Chris Pratt’s Star Lord adventures in “Guardians of the Galaxy 2.”
Pratt, who has just finished filming “Jurassic World,” is currently doing a lot of press to promote his new film. In one interview with IGN, he said that he does not want the Guardians to deal with “saving Cleveland.” He added that they are a cosmic group and they deserve to stay in space.
In terms of working with Mark Ruffalo, he said he would love to take that opportunity if Marvel permits. He even complimented the actor for being a terrific performer. When asked about the first activity he thinks he would do with Ruffalo when they meet, he said they would probably be seen doing some choreographed dances in no time. He also joked about teaching The Hulk his Running Man dance moves.
‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’ first draft
James Gunn, the writer and director for “Guardians of the Galaxy,” announced that he has already finished the first draft of the movie’s sequel. His initial writing was about 70 pages long. He said that his process is somehow different from others because he likes to plot the entire story first before he heads out to writing the screenplay.
Gunn is among the masterminds of the bigger Marvel cinematic universe. But since “Guardians of the Galaxy” is set outside of earth and it is basically owned by Twentieth Century Fox and not Marvel, he has more creative freedom to move around the story. This is also the reason why Gunn is reportedly creating a huge deviation from the comic version of the film. Marvel even called his move risky. Even though Gunn has been stretching the limits of his freedom, Marvel is trusting Gunn’s move.
Being far from Marvel’s clutch could be an advantage for Gunn. The latest Marvel movie “Avengers: Age of Ultron” was criticized for creating a storyline that did not really focus on the presence of the characters but on the film’s transition to the next movie. Marvel seems to be fast-forwarding the plot instead of just narrating the current struggles of Iron Man and his colleagues.
