The adult film industry is one of the early patrons of BitTorrent and has in fact contributed to its popularity because adult videos and pictures were often the most shared files in the Internet previously and even today.
The porn industry is also one of the early adopters of many Internet-related technologies including online payments and streaming services anchored primarily on BitTorrent, reports Torrent Freak.
Everyone knows that Popcorn Time evolve out of BitTorrent and it has since become one of the most popular movie streaming service in the Internet. While streaming per se is not illegal, streaming copyrighted movies or TV shows without the permission of those who own the rights to them is what’s against the law.
Uncharacteristically however, Popcorn Time did not attempt to stream porn or adult films at all considering that part of its idea and origin actually evolved from the porn industry.
Filling the hole
But porn fans need not fret anymore as a new version of Popcorn Time has been developed and released just recently. It is called Porn Time and it is now filling the hole that was left open by Popcorn Time for over a year since it break out in the video streaming business.
Porn Time was developed by Richard and his development team who felt that the porn film industry was left out by Popcorn Time so they took a fork of Popcorn Time and created the new streaming service aimed specifically at streaming adult films.
Based on existing Popcorn Time code, Porn Time works practically the same as the other BitTorrent forks of the freeware app. It works on most popular platforms and streams can be cast directly to the big screen with Chromecast, Airplay, or DLNA.
The current torrents are culled from the Pornleech tracker but Richard and his development team plan to add more sources in the future to expand its adult film library. And similar to Popcorn Time, Porn Time is also an open source, which means other developers can also start their own forks or contribute to the existing fork.
Richard added that they are setting up Gitlab on Porn Time servers since Github won’t allow them to run the project in their hub. As it depends on peer-to-peer technology, loading speed of videos on Porn Time depends largely on how well-seeded the torrents are, that is hardly a problem with most porn films.
Pirating made easy
Popcorn Time has been referred to as the Netflix for pirated movies but it requires the installation of a desktop application before users can utilize and enjoy the download of movies, copyrighted or not.
True to the promise of its developers in April, they have made it easier for Popcorn Time users to stream a pirated movie with just a couple of clicks away.
Instead of being a desktop application that requires installation on the users’ PC or laptop, the developers of the freeware app has come up with a new website called ‘Popcorn Time in Your Browser’ which works much like the desktop version, remotely streaming torrent files from YTS through Coinado.
