The Sims 4 Expanding with New Neighborhoods as Part of Free Update!

While initial critical reception for “The Sims 4” was not completely positive, the game was still received warmly by most of its fans and EA have been working hard to make sure that they keep it updated with new content and features. While some of that has been in the form of paid DLC, EA have also been developing free content to be released to every owner of the game. The most recent example of this is the “Newcrest update”, which is going to add an entire new world to the game, called Newcrest.

This world contains three new neighborhoods for players to have fun with, and it’s also completely empty – none of the lots are inhabited at first, so players won’t have to evict anyone if they want to move in anywhere. All lots will be up for grabs, so each player would get a chance to develop each of the three new neighborhoods exactly the way they want them.

Speaking of lots, each of the neighborhoods will have five empty lots, and players can either build their own properties on each of those lots or download something from the Gallery. Of course, Sims can also start out with an empty lot as well, for those who’re feeling more adventurous, although that’s not quite how the game was intended to be played.

Meanwhile, the new update is also supposedly going to polish the main game a little bit, smoothing out certain issues that players have been complaining about and making the performance slightly more consistent across the board. There have been some complaints about the way the game handles certain specific types of hardware, and these might be addressed with this patch, although this is just a rumor so far.

Other rumors claim that this is just the first update that will add new neighborhoods, out of several that are planned for the future. EA’s final goal is apparently to give their players a lot of freedom to design their houses and lives however they wish, and that includes giving them lots of different neighborhoods to play around in. If reception to this release is good enough, they will probably add more neighborhoods shortly after that.

On the other hand, they could also toy around with the idea of adding more neighborhoods as paid content, and we can definitely see that happening if the release of “Newcrest” proves successful. Players have been quite keen on paying for new content in “The Sims 4” since the release of the original game, and EA have been responding to that situation by trying out different ideas for paid additions to the title.

  1. I hope later in the game that we can use cars to drive around again and strollers so that having babies and making them grow is more interesting.

  2. Yes I agree to Kat Mariah, it would be nice to have cars and pets in the Sims 4. I also would recommend adding more clothing and hairstyles :)
