“Pretty Little Liars” is back for its sixth season and the show immediately ramped up the action and drama right from the start, as the Liars managed to escape from the clutches of Charles. In the beginning of the episode, we saw the Liars together with Mona in a pretty nasty situation, and we also got a hint that someone might become a major element of the Big A mystery.
Charles decides to lock the Liars out in the cold as punishment for their attempt to run away, leaving them with no food or water for many hours at a time. Once he decided to finally let them back inside, their problems actually continued – after meeting them with tear gas, Charles instructed them to go back to their respective rooms, where they would each find a surprise.
We didn’t actually get to see what the surprise was, but the reactions of the girls were completely terrified and they didn’t even want to discuss what they had seen, leaving viewers in the dark. We will probably get a little more information on that event at some point later, as it would be very unlikely for the producers of the show to leave their fans hanging after setting up such an interesting moment.
In Rosewood, Andrew Campbell was now officially missing and treated as the primary suspect behind the kidnapping of the girls, while Alison has just been released from prison recently after news started spreading that Mona was still alive. Alison was acting very differently now, strongly determined to get her friends back to safety, and this was a new side of the character that has never been shown on the series before.
The girls were then shown unpacking various boxes containing things from Alison, including items from her childhood, and they understood that Alison herself was coming as well. Spencer then makes the suggestion that they all try to break free as soon as the generator is shut down, running to the vault where Charles keeps his important items, hoping to use them as leverage for their freedom.
Once they got there successfully, the girls immediately wanted to show Charles that they were serious, and started burning his home movies right in front of his eyes. At the same time, Alison arrived outside the bunker, forcing Charles to decide between saving his things or going out to grab her. In the end, he decides to go for his possessions, allowing the girls to escape and reunite with Ali who is waiting for them outside.
