For Dishing Out Electric Performance in Season 2 of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,’ Luke Mitchell Turned into a Series Regular for Upcoming Season 3

The widely-popular American fiction TV series “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” will have a new show regular in Luke Mitchell when it airs again for Season 3 comes September.

Mitchell apparently delivered a riveting and electric performance as an Inhuman named Lincoln in the just-concluded Season 2 that the show creators decided to promote him into a series regular for the third Season to start airing on ABC later this year.

As Lincoln, Mitchell played the role of being a member of the secret Inhuman society called Afterlife who can generate electricity from his body. He made his debut in the show in April.

Lincoln actually helped Skye, played by Chloe Bennet, to come to terms and appreciate the worth of her Inhuman abilities. He also introduced her to her mother, the Inhuman leader Jiaying, played by Dichen Lachman, details Comic Book Resources.

The Australian actor is also being lauded for his acting prowess in another series on The CW titled “The Tomorrow People.”

In the series finale of Season 2, Lincoln turned to Jiaying after she launched an attack on the S.H.I.E.L.D. carrier but eventually switched allegiances and enabled Lincoln to help Skye and the rest of the S.H.I.E.L.D. save the world from the deadly ginger army known as Terrigen Mists.

Plenty of ideas

Executive producer Jeffrey Bell said that the creative team has a lot of ideas for Luke Mitchell and his character Lincoln in the series.

Bell said that Mitchell was a remarkable addition to the series in the past season that is why it was easy to make a decision that would make the Australian actor a series regular for the third season.

Towards the end of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 2, Phil Coulson, played by Clark Gregg, handed Skye a folder with the label ‘Caterpillars’ on it, which was a reference to Jonathan Hickman and Stefano Caselli’s secret warriors.

Everyone knows that Nick Fury runs several different sects of sleeper agents and each one is called a ‘caterpillar’ team. It looks like that Lincoln would be taken in as Skye’s first recruit as she forms her own caterpillar team.
