The new season of “House of Cards” is gearing up for its release, but it’s still some time away – but at least we know that it’s in the works, which is good enough for many of the show’s fans. Current reports indicate that there is still some work left to be done in the preparation stage before the actual filming and production can begin, which is apparently currently set for this summer.
As for the release itself, it’s scheduled for April 2016 at the moment, so that’s the timeframe fans should be looking forward to. It should be noted that there have also been some rumors that the season might be delayed until the fall season of 2016, and the situation is not completely clear yet. It’s also possible that it will coincide with US Presidential elections, and it will also likely focus more on Frank Underwood’s private life and problems, as opposed to his political struggles.
Season 3 left on a dark note for him personally, as his wife left him, surrounded by rumors among the show’s community about an impending divorce in season 4. If the current speculation about the show’s plot is true, Frank and Claire will actually become political rivals competing for the post of the President of the USA, and going up against his wife is something Frank will find truly challenging.
After all, she is the one person aware of all of his dirty secrets, and capable of ruining him if she wanted to, so this will be an interesting fight for sure. A large part of the show was based on the marriage between the two so far, so seeing that fall apart is going to have some serious implications on how the new season proceeds.
Of course, it’s also possible that the writers are planning a surprise reunion and they’re going to bring the two characters together in the end, but the chances for that are pretty slim right now. On the other hand, with regards to the above situation that Frank is facing, it’s also worth noting that the same is valid for him – he is the one that can do the most damage to Claire if he wanted to.
So far, people involved with the show’s production haven’t been very open to sharing details about the plot of season 4, and we can expect to hear little on the official front until the season actually comes closer sometime next year. Still, rumors are a different story and there will probably be plenty of those in the meantime.
