Almost every day, there are always news or rumors about Rockstar Games’ sixth installment for its very popular open-world action adventure video game franchise “Grand Theft Auto” even though the game has yet to be formally announced nor given a specific release date.
Latest reports indicate that the earliest that “GTA 6” can make it to the next-gen gaming consoles and the PC is on 2018 at the earliest or 2020 at the latest. There are also reports that the earliest that advance details about the game will be released officially is around 2016 or 2017.
Amid these time table, speculations about the possible plotline, location, new characters, new missions, new weapons, new vehicles, among other features continue to swirl in the internet, without Rockstar making any official pronouncement or releasing a statement at all.
One of the most interesting rumors, which can be classified actually as part of a wish list of many “GTA” gamers, is that they want the upcoming video game to take place in the retro look of the 1970’s.
After the idea was broached and reported by a motoring site, other internet news sites have jumped on the bandwagon and have since solicited many personal views, most of them positive.
Gamers and fans of “GTA” believe that it’s an idea that Rockstar Games should start looking into while currently in the development of the video game because the 70s culture is quite suited for the mafias, which usually features collaboration between corrupt government officials and private businesses owned by the mafias, details GTA 6 Grand Theft Auto.com.
Even many fans in forums have shared that they really liked the idea of 70’s culture, as it was best suited for mafia’s as it includes all the corrupt government and all business owned by mafia’s.
A new female character
In addition to the chatter about the possible new location or locations for “GTA 6,” also going around heavy on the rumor mill as early as March is that the video game will finally have a female protagonist in order to bring the game a new level of excitement.
Dan Houser, head writer for Rockstar Games, said that there is a possibility that the “GTA” franchise could have a lead female character. He disclosed that it’s one of the things that they have thought about.
While the idea didn’t come and feel natural for the past games in the franchise, but with the right theme and storyline, having a female character for “GTA 6” would be fantastic.
An American game
There have been previous reports saying that the location of “GTA 6” may be in London. It was actually Dan Houser who insinuated about it some two years ago when he said back then that Rockstar would really love to set a game in the UK, particularly in London because there are plenty of good stories to tell about the UK, its great environments, and the great gameplay mechanics that could feature a UK slant to then.
Houser also said that although personally he feels that “GTA” per se has the American signature all over it, the game can certainly be tailor-fit to make it more suited to the preferences of gamers and not Rockstar. He said that they are willing to explore something new on the game’s location and make it truly iconic.
