PES 15 Still Selling Copies, Future Uncertain As Konami Moves To Mobile, And More

As weird as it was for people to read about Konami moving away from console gaming and into the mobile gaming market, it took a day or two before some realized that some of the most popular games might not have a future. Konami made the announcement recently and that sent fans of the games to the web to find out what the news was all about. One of those video gamer series is Pro Evolution Soccer, or PES. Late last year, the latest version of the game was released and today there are still copies selling.

The game is a soccer simulation that has been published by Konami for the Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. The game series has been going on for fourteen years now and this season the cover features Mario Gotze. The game has evolved into something that players have enjoyed the last few years with features like custom players and league play. The game featured its first ever downloadable content pack last November, which was released right before the game.

Gamers all over the world have been more intrigued with games that offer downloadable content after it has been released and those that were looking forward to PES 15 saw that the content pack brought eight European Teams to the lineup including Slovan Bratislava, FK Partizan, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Ludogorets Razgrad, HJK Helsinki, Qarabag Agdam, Legia Warsaw and Sparta Praha. Other than being able to play with new teams, the content that you can download added summer transfers, new player faces, updated lineups and new shoes from Nike, Puma and Adidas.

Within the next month, the second downloadable content pack was released and it contained two new teams and stadiums to play in along with other minor updates. Clearly, at the beginning the game was getting some attention and Konami wanted to make sure they were able to extend the game for players into the next version which would be released at some point this year. Now that the Konami announcement has been made, it is not clear if the company will be working on the next game.

A few things can happen now that the company wants to move into mobile gaming. The games that are currently published could be sold off to another company to continue the development, or they could just forget about all of the games and the latest versions were the ones released last year. In many cases, PES 15 has been getting great reviews and players all over the world are tuned into gaming against opponents that live in another country. The odds are good that another company would like to take over, but you never know with things like this.
