It has almost been one year since Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas announced that they would be getting a divorce, but the couple are still making headlines every single month. The two were almost married for 20 years and according to reports, the divorce is being handled as “a loving and friendly manner”. The couple married back in 1996 after their respective divorces were finalized at the time. The couple has one child together and she was born in late 1996. Melanie Griffith has been through the ringer in terms of the celebrity lifestyle, suffering from addiction and many stints in rehab.
Back in the late 1980’s, Melanie Griffith was addicted to alcohol and cocaine and once that as announced, she went into rehab to get straightened out. At the time she was married to Don Johnson and even though that only lasted for six months, it was the start of her many marriages and other issues while in the spotlight. Shortly after Don Johnson, she married Steven Bauer and they had a son together. The actress found herself in rehab in 1988 with the hope that she would be able to reconcile with Johnson.
Don Johnson was back in the picture after rehab and the couple had a daughter in 1989. The couple might have seemed like they were on the mend, but in 1994 they split again, only to finally call it quits in May 1995. Melanie Griffith always said that if she was not with someone she was not a “happy girl” and that might have contributed to the many failed marriages over the years. Melanie Griffith has been a busy woman and even though she is closing in on 60 years old, is still looking great and working hard with a couple new movies on the horizon.
Over the years, Melanie Griffith has been a part of many movies and television shows. Now that Melanie Griffith is down with her third marriage, it would appear that it is time to get rid of all the memories that were made during the last 18 years. Many of those memories would be made in the $16 million mansion that she shared with Banderas. The home sits on a 1.5 acre property and was built in 1925 and combined two properties at the time. The mansion features more than 15,000 square feet of living space that includes 13 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, a gym, recording studio, two-story kitchen and an elevator.
