GAMMA, or the Greater Atlanta Automotive Media Association, holds an annual meeting to determine the current features and value of the best family vehicles on the market, and they give awards in different categories according to various criteria. The organization has quite the strong reputation among critics and consumers, and the titles awarded by them tend to be taken seriously – which is why the recent announcement that the Mazda CX-5 has been named the “Best Value Family Car” has generated an understandably high amount of hype.
The 2016 edition of the model won the top spot in its category for the overall value of the car, and GAMMA were very fond of the qualities offered by the car, stating that it delivers an outstanding performance in various categories and costs less than the average car in its market segment. This is true, as the car ranges between $26,000 and $32,000 for its different models, making it a great overall offer.
Its current state is pretty good on all fronts, as the car received various significant updates, not just in its performance but also to its looks. It now comes with different new wheel options, and the visual style of the car has been updated to match current trends more closely, resulting in a very stylish, yet recognizable appearance.
Those who’ve been following the model for a while should have no trouble easily recognizing it, but new buyers should find themselves enticed as well, as it manages to immediately stand out and attract all looks towards itself. There’s certainly a lot to look at in this package too, as the car’s designers have put a lot of effort in the small details, and the presentation of the model is great as a whole.
Hyundai, in the meantime, have been gearing up to go after the CX-5 with their own Tucson. It appears that Hyundai have taken notice of the growing popularity of Mazda’s model and want a share of that market segment for themselves, but it’s not yet clear if they’re going to see much success with that effort.
The Tucson is a great vehicle overall, there’s no denying that – but it’s not just about performance when it comes to beating the CX-5, as Hyundai will also have to make sure that they offer their car at an attractive price. This is the other critical factor they’ll need to secure if they want a shot at that market share, which is why there has been a lot of arguing over whether or not they are going to be successful.
