Apple Watch Pushes Retail Price of Motorola Moto 360 Down to Nearly 50% Off from its Original Price

When it was launched in March last year and subsequently released to the retail markets in September 2014 as an Android-based smartwatch, the Motorola Moto 360 carried a retail price of $250.

For one of the best reviewed smart wearables back then, paying such amount for the Motorola Moto 360 was considered a bargain.

With the emergence of the Apple Watch in March this year, the device has practically changed the landscape of the smart wearables. Given the advance technological features of the Apple smartwatch, it was a no-brainer to compare or even think that the year-older Motorola Moto 360 would be able to compete head on with the Apple Watch.

As an American tech company itself, Motorola would surely not allow its first smart wearable to go down without a fight. As there are already reports that the company is planning to unveil its next generation Motorola Moto 360 very soon, Motorola is now going on a disposal binge mode to finally sell all its remaining 2014 smartwatches until supply runs out.

Price cut

What better way to dispose off its supply than to slash the prices of its Motorola Moto 360 to a bargain, albeit nearly give-away levels.

Apparently from $250, retail price of the Motorola Moto 360 is now down to $129.99 according to one deal in Woot.

At a price of $130, the Motorola Moto 360 would be a perfect deal for those who are planning to make their initial foray into the smartwatch market. It’s similar to a naïve driver getting his first car. Rather than going for the brand new, he should consider going for the second-hand or a slightly used unit just to get the feel of driving instead of getting the subsequent feel of owning a good-looking brand new car.

Whenever consumers are given the opportunity for this kind of deal, they should not procrastinate and grabbed the deal right away because it’s one of those rare chance to pick up a functional Android-based smartwatch and gives them the feeling later on that they got their money’s worth for it.

Competing with the Apple Watch

In addition to the next generation Motorola Moto 360, Samsung is reportedly close to unveiling its Gear A round-faced smartwatch which could very well become the flagship Android Wear equivalent of the Apple Watch, notes Yahoo Tech from a BGR report.

And unless Motorola comes up with something really great and groundbreaking for its next generation smart smartwatch, the company’s Motorola Moto 360 shall soon relinquish its official title as the most reviewed Android-based smart wearable to the upcoming Samsung Gear A.

  1. Moto360 is a year old and Google I/O is just around the corner, it’s more than likely that the price drop will be to make way for a new release and has sweet f**k all to do with crApple.
