Ruthless Mass Murderer Jason Voorhees Comes to ‘Mortal Kombat X;’ Predator Next

Developer NetherRealm has officially released a gameplay trailer of how legendary ruthless mass murderer Jason Voorhees from the “Friday the 13th” horror movie franchise will fight his opponents in the fighting video game “Mortal Kombat X” beginning on May 5.

Engadget describes Jason as every bit as ruthless as one would expect for a mass murderer who has been killed many times over but continues to keep coming back from the dead.

Armed with his equally famous machete, the gameplay trailer showed how good Jason Voorhees is in carving his opponents into pieces. And gamers would either wince or laugh on how he does it in the game with flair.

Although he will officially roll out to “Mortal Kombat X” on May 5, it would be a week later still before gamers could buy Jason Voorhees by himself as a DLC pack. Gamers who have tried playing Freddy Krueger in “Mortal Kombat 9” would sure get a kick playing his nemesis this time around in “Mortal Kombat X.”

NetherRealm has not been making any pronouncement about the possibility of Freddy Krueger coming to “Mortal Kombat X.”

But the latest most requested character that will most likely make it to the fighting game is the Predator from the Arnold Schwarzenegger first movie fame though no official date has been set just yet by the developer for his arrival to “Mortal Kombat X.”

Long sought

Jason Voorhees is one of the most widely-anticipated playable characters in “Mortal Kombat X.” While gamers have been literally begging for him since “Mortal Kombat 9,” NetherRealm announced early this year that Jason will finally make it to “Mortal Kombat X.”

But instead of coming with the game out of the box when it was officially released on April 14 for the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, and the PC, the Jason Voorhees character will instead be released as a DLC.

NetherRealm announced on April 23 that Jason Voorhees will finally arrive as a playable character on “Mortal Kombat X” when the game’s DLC arrives on May 5.

But Jason will become initially available for those who purchased the $30 Kombat Pack only. The character will arrive on May 12 for everyone else playing “Mortal Kombat X” on the PC and the next gen gaming consoles.

First of four characters

Jason is actually the first of a total of four DLC character packs due to be released for “Mortal Kombat X” within the next couple of months.

Request for Jason Voorhees began in “Mortal Kombat 9” when NetherReal included Freddy Krueger from the popular horror movie series “A Nightmare on Elm Street.” Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger, it can be recalled, also had a film where they battle out each other.
