Filming for Six-Episode Season 4 of ‘Continuum’ Proceeding Smoothly in Vancouver

The filming for the fourth and final season of the science-fiction drama TV series “Continuum” on Showcase television is proceeding smoothly over at Vancouver, Canada.

Since Season 4 has been shortened to feature only six episodes, show creator Simon Barry expects shooting to wrap up pretty soon after they started late last month. The timetable was to have a one-month shooting for Season 4 of “Continuum,” finish post-production work and release the show on air by July 26.

Fans are regularly updated of the goings on behind the filming scenes of “Continuum” through the TV series’ Twitter page.

Cameron’s exploits

Season 4 of “Continuum” will once again focus on the exploits of Kiera Cameron, played by Rachel Nichols, as she travels through time from 2077 to 2012 with a group of terrorists and works on finding her way back home.

While Barry previously disclosed that he is looking at seven to 10 seasons to complete the entire story of “Continuum,” Showtime did not buy his reasoning, apparently because of the not-so-favorable results of TV ratings during its past two seasons.

While there has been no detail as far as the sub-plot of Season 4 of “Continuum” is concerned, the good news is that fans are already looking forward to its official airing in July.

This was very clear from the fan comments on the show’s Facebook page saying that they can’t wait to see how Kiera fulfill her role in the TV series that comes with the subplot of ‘the end is just the beginning.’

As “Continuum” dwells primarily on time travel, a fan art of the series even showed that the series is similar in plotline to the “Back to the Future” movie series back in the early 80s starring Michael J. Fox. But instead of having the word ‘Future’ on the concept art, it was “Continuum.” In addition to Kiera Cameron, Erik Knudsen, who plays the role of Alec Sadler, and another male star were included in the art.

Critically-acclaimed

While “Continuum” may not be as successful as far as TV ratings are concerned, it’s storyline and the ensemble of good actors for its cast, have enabled the series to garner four nominations in the Saturn Awards released in the first week of March.

The Academy of Science Fiction Fantasy and Horror Films bequeathed four prestigious nominations to “Continuum” including Best Syndicated / Cable Television Series, a Best Actress in a TV series for Rachel Nichols, Best Supporting Actor in a TV series for Erik Knudsen, and Best Supporting Actress in a TV series for Lexa Doig.

Several fans have also expressed dismay to Showcase for writing off “Continuum” at the end of Season 4. One fan said that he finds it really a shame that the series has to end rather abruptly.

The fan added that there is already a dearth of quality science fiction shows on TV and believes that they can’t afford to lose another one.
