The possibility of seeing another season of “The Mindy Project” has been getting a lot of discussion lately, and one thing is clear – there are plenty of people out there who would be more than happy to get another round of episodes for their favorite show. And there’s definitely a lot of potential for developing the current characters further, and doing even more with the current plot.
In the season finale, we got to see Danny flying all the way to India to prove his love. This was a touching moment for many fans, and it gave everyone some hope that we could possibly see another season after this one has concluded for good.
So far, there are some rumors allegedly coming from behind the scenes, claiming that there is about a 50% chance for the new season to happen. The problem is that the show has been suffering from rather low ratings ever since it launched, but on the other hand, it’s been enjoying plenty of media attention, and most critics seem to agree that it’s an amazing production. And then, it also has quite a lot of fans that are actively looking out for each new installment.
The good news is that even if it doesn’t get renewed by Fox, it could be taken to another network just as well, as NBC hold the rights for it and they can easily decide to run it elsewhere, such as Hulu which is their own project as well.
And for what it’s worth, fans have responded positively to this idea, with many expressing an interest in the possibility of watching the show on demand. A change of format in such a way does not necessarily have to mean that the show will lose fans, and it could even become more successful once it’s exposed to the Internet in a more direct way.
It definitely has the potential to be noticed by many people if it gets picked up by an on-demand distribution network, and this could also be beneficial for its production style by allowing the writers to engage more closely with their audience. That way, they’ll be able to monitor responses more closely, and immediately take action when they decide that something isn’t being taken the right way by fans. Or, on the other hand, pay more attention to plot points that are getting positive responses.
In any case, there’s a good chance that we’ll see “The Mindy Project” in one form or another sometime in the future, and it would be very interesting to see how the show could be developed further – and also, how many more seasons it could get.
