Shot to fame
Adam Lambert’s shot to fame came when he finished runner-up during the eighth season of “American Idol.” He signed up with 19 Entertainment in a joint venture with RCA Records and in 2009, released his debut studio album titled “For Your Entertainment.”
“For Your Entertainment” made it to No. 3 in the US Billboard 200 and sold 198,000 copies on its first week. It also made it to the top 10 albums in several countries.
Adam Lambert also made history when after his album release, he went on a worldwide concert tour, to become the first “American Idol” contestant to do so one year after he joined his Idol season.
What makes Lambert clicked among fans is his flamboyant, theatrical, and androgynous performance style that complements his powerful, technically-skilled tenor voice with a wide range.
Three years later, Adam Lambert released his second album titled “Trespassing” in May 2012 to critical acclaim. The second album debuted to No. 1 spot on the US Billboard 200. It also topped the Billboard Digital Albums Chart as well as Canada’s Digital Album Chart.
Lambert also made music history by being the first openly gay artist to have achieved the chart-topping position.
The 33-year-old music artist was born in Indianapolis, Indiana but was raised in San Diego, California. When he was a child, he performed in amateur theatrical productions, which he pursued into adulthood, appearing in professional productions in the US and abroad.
