Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge debuted to the retail markets in mostly positive reviews, with many fans claiming the new devices as among the best, if not the best flagship smartphones in the market today.
The new flagship smartphones of Samsung sport groundbreaking features that were an improvement on the iPhones that surely caught the attention of handset enthusiasts.
One of the key upgrades to Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge that made them look really cool is the redesign of the phones from previous Samsung Galaxy S phones, notes Dallas News.
From previously looking cheap with the very thin and flimsy plastic pack, Samsung’s latest flagships are made of aluminum and Corning Gorilla Glass, making it really expensive-looking commensurate to their status.
Negative feedback
A number of Samsung users however, who have been so accustomed to the core features of the Samsung Galaxy S flagship series, were both surprise and disappointed that the Korean tech giant did away with some key attributes.
The use of glass cover for the back officially put an end to the era of the replaceable battery for the Samsung Galaxy S flagships. There is also no more microSD card slot for additional memory expansion leaving users content with the internal storage capacities of the handsets coming out of the box.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge are no longer waterproof devices, which was a key feature of the Samsung Galaxy S5.
While Samsung previously promised that it has done away with the bloatware, its new handsets still came with tons of it. There are still folders that have preloaded apps from Samsung, Google, Microsoft and the carrier. But at least, it is contained in a folder so users can just simply ignore them.
Overall however, the tradeoff was worth it since what came out is perhaps the best Android phones in the market today, if not the best smartphones in the retail markets.
Key Upsides
As for the upsides, aside from the fact that the smartphones do look expensive, they also feature fast charging technology which means a 10-minute charge would already enable the handsets to continuously operate for four hours.
In addition to the fast-charge feature, the phones also sport built-in wireless charging and optional wireless charging pad.
The Samsung flagship smartphones also feature a home button on the front that also serves as a fingerprint reader to unlock the handset.
The camera is also a great improvement from its predecessors. The Samsung flasgships now both sport a 16-megapixel resolution rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization and a front-facing snapper with 5 megapixels of resolution.
In terms of power inside, the Samsung’s flagships do not disappoint with their octa-core Exynos processors that offer 3GB of RAM. In terms of internal storage options, the handsets come in 32GB up to 128GB of internal storage variants.
