While fans of the racing video game series “Gran Turismo” are all eyes and ears on the upcoming release of the seventh installment of the franchise exclusively on the PlayStation 4 later this year or early next year, German automaker Volkswagen quietly released a new supercar concept on “Gran Turismo 6” on the PlayStation 3.
Volkswagen has introduced the GTI Supersport to Sony’s current generation gaming console which offers more than 500 horsepower in a hunkered-down, all-wheel-drive two-door hatch sports car, details IBN Live.
The supercar concept was inspired from the real-world Volkswagen GTI which exudes 210 horsepower at maximum strength. The actual Volkswagen GTI comes in two hatchback versions with the 2.0-liter direct-injected turbo four as its base engine.
It comes in six-speed manual transmission with the automatic transmission as an option. Its performance package also adds 10 extra horsepower and a torque-sensing limited-slip differential, which gives it stronger brakes.
Virtual version
The virtual version of the Volkswagen GTI is capable of delivering maximum strength of 503 horsepower and 490 pound-feet of torque. With these numbers, the supercar concept can actually hit a top speed of 186 miles per hour in “Gran Turismo 6.”
It’s also quite a spectacular race car for the racing video game since it can go from 0 to 62 miles per hour in about 3.6 seconds.
The Volkswagen GTI supercar concept would be coming to “Gran Turismo 6” once gamers take on the update patch, version 1.18. The Volkswagen beauty can be located in the Vision GT area of the Cars section.
Gamers can earn the car and get the opportunity to drive it in subsequent races if they complete at least a lap in the Seasonal Event mode of “Gran Turismo 6.”
A better version is coming
“Gran Turismo 6” has a checkered history in the PlayStation 3. The racing game was developed by Polyphony Digital and published by Sony Computer Entertainment exclusively for the PlayStation 3.
“GT6” as it commonly abbreviated, is the sixth major release and 12th game overall in the “Gran Turismo” video game series. It was released worldwide on December 6, 2013.
Sony is seriously pinning its hopes that the racing game “Gran Turismo 7,” the upcoming predecessor to “Gran Turismo 6,” will live up to its hype as the best installment to the series ast it rolls out exclusively to the PlayStation 4 either later this year or in the early part of 2016.
The game developer has promised that they will bring something special to gamers for “Gran Turismo 7” that will make it the best entry on the PS4 that gamers could ever imagine.
Series creator Kazunori Yamauchi says that “Gran Turismo 7” will be a lot better when compared to “Gran Turismo 6.” The game would run naturally in the PS4. He disclosed that the development team is doing everything that they can for “Gran Turismo 7” which was otherwise not applicable in “Gran Turismo 6.”
