Now that “The Sims 4” has been out for a while and people have had a chance to build a more complete opinion of it, more accurate and in-depth reviews have started to come out. The general consensus is more or less positive, and most seem convinced that the game is a move in the right direction for EA, even though it has its shortcomings. It would certainly be useful for the company to listen to customer feedback about “The Sims 4”, because the franchise still has a lot of potential that can be utilized, they just have to play their cards right.
The game focused on various aspects of the franchise’s gameplay which fans have been enjoying before, and it particularly improved the situation with jobs and careers. It’s now a much more interesting game for those who want to set their Sims on a specific career path, and even though the options are somewhat limited, the way these mechanics work has been expanded compared to previous games quite significantly.
The visual quality of the new “Sims” is particularly noteworthy, according to most critics, as the game stands out with bright, beautiful colors and well-animated characters that are just a pleasure to look at. There have been pretty much no negative comments about the game’s appearance, and it seems to do a good job at presenting its world in a good light.
Still, some reviewers seem to be of the opinion that this might have come at the cost of gameplay features to some extent, as some actions apparently feel boring and monotone, and aren’t really worth performing other than for some small bonus that they provide. The point, according to those who’ve been criticizing the feature, is that previous “Sims” games tended to make every action feel fun in its own unique way, while here we have some player-controlled actions that are just boring and feel like a chore.
Another aspect that has been getting brought up commonly in reviews is the level of variety offered in the new game, as it does leave a little to be desired in some aspects. More career path choices would be nice, and there is a lack of certain types of furniture and items that players usually loved in the previous parts of the series. Some have been worried that EA might be planning to release the most popular features of the franchise as paid DLC, which would certainly be seen as a very distasteful move, but it wouldn’t be above the company. Like we said above though, they should definitely listen to what their fans have to say about the current state of the game.
