There have been predictions and forecast made regarding the upcoming mega-fight between Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao and pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
But none of those predictions visualize any knockout happening during the world’s most anticipated boxing bout in history.
Apparently, boxing great Sugar Ray Leonard sees otherwise. He believes that there will be a knockout happening within the next five rounds of the boxing contest.
However, he did not elaborate which boxer would be taking a nap on the ring. He also picked Mayweather to win the all-important duel between two of the most celebrated athletes in the whole of boxing.
Nonetheless, he also said that Pacquiao is a beast on the ring so he is not discounting the possibility that the Filipino boxing icon may also pull off a surprise. He believes that if Pacquiao can throw all his multiple punches during the fight with Mayweather, he surely can beat Mayweather.
Envisioning an early KO
Sugar Ray Leonard was quoted as saying in a recent interview by a sports network that for some reason he keeps envisioning or seeing early knockdowns. He explained that both fighters will be so tight and wound up, and will most likely react with head fakes.
The boxing great said that once one of the boxers reacts to head fakes, he will be susceptible to getting knock down, or worst knocked out.
He also expressed his excitement over the upcoming showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr, calling it the fight of their lives, career, and everything.;
For bragging rights
Sugar Ray Leonard also believes that the fight between the two boxing superstars is about bragging rights as well as legacy and history to the sport.
He believes that if any from Floyd or Manny says that they are not even thinking of the May 2 fight, the one who says that otherwise is not telling the truth.
Leonard said that he is hoping that Pacquiao and Mayweather will live up to the considerable hype about the world’s richest boxing bout ever. He added that very few fights live up to the expectations and he is hopeful that the May 2 fight would, notes ABS-CBN News.
Sugar Ray recalls that there have been a lot of great fights in the past, whose drumbeating and event build-up were really tremendous. However, one punch can actually change everything.
He also cited the possibility of one fighter getting into the ring and oozing with enthusiasm and confidence to fight but all of a sudden, he’s not as confident as he thought he would be.
Sugar Ray said that things happen in the ring. One fighter may have a lot of things in his mind, into his heart and into his spirit but nobody knows the future.
