One slip-up can often cost a star a lot, especially someone who’s constantly under the public spotlight. There have been various incidents throughout history where celebrities have unwillingly revealed various details about their lives on Twitter and other sites, and most recently, we got Katy Perry showing her private phone number to the whole world.
The number was leaked in a photo which Katy Perry posted on Instagram, which was focusing on her dog, Butters – but also had the singer’s phone number in clear view. It appears that Katy Perry didn’t initially notice her mistake, and by the time she did, it was far too late as the photo was already spreading all over the Internet like wildfire.
Deleting it was a bit pointless by that time, as anyone who wanted to get her private number now had the opportunity to do so with just one quick Google search. It’s not known how much this has affected Katy Perry’s life so far, but we can only assume that it must have had a pretty noticeable impact, especially considering that it happened around April 1 which further added to the funny nature of the situation.
So, if any of the singer’s fans want a chance to get in touch with her and say something to her personally, now’s the best opportunity of their lives. It’s not known if Katy Perry’s phone number is still active at this point or if the singer is going to switch it, though she would probably be smart to do so. On the other hand, moments like this one have typically lead to comical situations with some celebrities in the past, and Katy Perry could definitely make use of the situation if she wanted to.
She hasn’t been the only one sharing phone numbers on the Internet lately however, as Miley Cyrus also made an interesting post of her own, although hers was focusing on another person entirely. Miley Cyrus apparently wanted to get her fans to “attack” the phone number of Senator Tom Cotton with prank calls, and posted his number publicly for all to see.
We have no confirmation about whether this has caused any legal trouble for Cyrus or not so far, although it’s not very likely that the singer will have to face any real repercussions for this act, even though it’s against a political figure with some serious pull in certain circles.
