From previously showing off concept of the 2015 Nissan Maxima, the Japanese carmaker finally unravelled its new sports sedan at the New York International Auto Show.
The 2015 Nissan Maxima comes off quite similar to the sports sedan concept that the automaker has previously unveiled in recent auto shows, cites The Star.
Compared to the previous models of the Maxima, the 2015 edition is longer and somewhat lowered but it is notches better in terms of power. It is also the sportiest version of the Maxima yet, which is why Nissan is referring to it as a four-door sports car.
The previous concept car displayed in recent motor shows indicated that the eighth generation mid-size sedan will draw a maximum power of 290 horsepower from its 3.5-liter V6 engine, but the one that came out at the New York International Auto Show showed that it exudes maximum strength of 300 horsepower.
It also has remarkable fuel efficiency as the sports sedan actually consumes 15% percent less fuel compared to other vehicles in its class. Most importantly to consumers, Nissan has confirmed that the 2015 Maxima will finally roll out to retail markets this coming summer.
An aggressive design
The 2015 Nissan Maxima features an aggressive body design highlighted by the swooping roofline which was patterned after the canopy of a fighter jet plane. In fact, Nissan designers spent time with the Blue Angels of the US Navy just to study the aerodynamic profile of their planes as well as the seating positions of their pilots.
Complementing its powertrain is the Xtronic system-powered CVT transmission which ensures better acceleration. The 2015 Nissan Maxima shall come in four variants, but each one will have a Drive Mode selector to switch to a more aggressive Sport style to enable quicker response anchored on a different shift pattern and tighter steering.
The basic model is the SV which is to be retailed for $35,900. There’s also the sports model called the SR which will come out worth $41,000. The high-end Platinum model will cost $43,300.
Other features and interiors
The 2015 Nissan Maxima is a front-wheel drive sedan which is 33 mm lower and 55 mm longer making it roomier inside and allowing for superb overall handling.
It is also a tough and safe vehicle since its platform has been redesigned using high-strength steel and four-wheel independent suspension.
The 2015 Nissan Maxima also features premium interior including standard heated leather seats, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, and a standard seven-inch display screen controlled by a BMW-like main dial. The infotainment console is also positioned towards the driver for easier access, which is patterned after the GT-R.
Because of the laminated glass used in both the windshield and the front side windows, the interior of the 2015 Nissan Maxima assures a quiet ride. The sports edition also features a noise cancellation system to insulate the cabin from engine noise.
