Fans of Robert Downey Jr. have been following his recent schedule with active interest, trying to figure out which the next major production to star him will be. And while we know for certain that he’s signed a contract for “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Captain America: Civil War”, there’s a strong possibility that the next “Iron Man” will come out without him.
And while the actor’s fans were obviously disappointed by this announcement, there are some good news on the horizon – currently, it’s rumored that Ty Simpkins will be replacing Robert Downey Jr., and he’ll be taking on main role in the next film once it’s released. It wouldn’t be the first time Simpkins has appeared in the franchise either, as he had a role in “Iron Man 3” a couple of years ago.
And while most fans of the franchise seem excited about the rumors, not everyone is on board with the positive emotions. According to some, Simpkins is far too young to represent the Iron Man – but on the other hand, if the story of the new film takes place some time in the past, it could definitely make sense.
There is also another possibility – the writers may decide to replace the actor for the superhero in a way that’s explained by the story, such as by “retiring” the original Iron Man and showing him handing off his work to an apprentice. Of course, they still have to stick to some established parts of the character’s canon, but on the other hand, it also couldn’t hurt to experiment a little bit with some more unusual plot developments.
Other than these developments, there hasn’t been much activity on the “Iron Man 4” front so far, and we don’t know any other details about the speculated movie. It’s probably too early to talk about a release date at this point, and we’ll likely start hearing rumors about that before the date is officially announced anyway. But this hasn’t stopped fans from discussing the situation very actively, and wondering when the movie is going to possibly roll out.
Whenever it comes, it’s pretty clear by this point that its producers are likely planning something big. It makes sense too, as it would be the fourth installment in the franchise already, and fans would likely expect something a bit more. Of course, they should also be careful to avoid making changes that are too drastic for those same fans, as that could end up backfiring and alienating fans from the production. But in the end, the studio knows how their fanbase, and they will know how to handle this in the best way possible.
