‘X-Men’ Spinoff Movie ‘Deadpool’ to Hit Theaters on February 12, 2016

The mutant ‘Deadpool’ is going to have his own movie and it will hit theaters on February 12, 2016.

Ryan Reynolds is going to play the role of the ‘mercenary with a mouth’ in “Deadpool,” the latest Marvel comics character who will jump to the big screen, cites Yahoo! Celebrity.

Last month, the actor gave a glimpse of the costume of the foulmouthed mercenary on Twitter But on March 27, he actually showed an image on Twitter again of himself fully dressed in “Deadpool” costume lying on the floor over a bearskin and in front of a fireplace with blazing fire in the backdrop.

Reynolds captioned his post by saying with great power, comes great irresponsibility, as sort of parody to one of Spider-Man’s famous lines, and also alluding how naughty “Deadpool” is going to be.

An anti-superhero

‘Deadpool’ is a fictional character, a mutant, who is both a mercenary and anti-superhero from Marvel comics. As a superhero in disguise, his alter ego is Wade Winston Wilson.

A disfigured and mentally unstable mercenary, ‘Deadpool’ originally appeared as a villain in an issue of “New Mutants,” and later in issues of “X-Force.” The character is famous for his talkative nature and his tendency to break the fourth wall.

The superhero character is a mutant and is basically categorized by Marvel comics enthusiasts as part of the X-Men. In fact, Ryan Reynolds already appeared as ‘Deadpool’ in the 2009 movie “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” starring Hugh Jackman as the mutant with the steel blade claws.

On February 12, Ryan Reynolds posted on Twitter an image of him looking at the prototype mask of ‘Deadpool’ as well as the gloves of the superhero character, which he will be taking on soon again.

Reynolds timed the post on the exact date that “Deadpool” will be hitting the theaters next year. He added in the caption that there is only 365 sleeps to go before the movie is shown.

He also captioned his tweet that he intentionally had the image in sepia to camouflage the fact that the real color of the ‘Deadpool’ costume was ballerina pink. He was joking of course.

Director and possible female lead

Aside from Ryan Reynolds in the lead role, Tim Miller is already confirmed as director for the superhero movie, his directorial debut actually. Miller is responsible for the visual effects of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” starring Daniel Craig.

But a female lead has yet to be confirmed by Fox as of this time. Accordingly, the production outfit is choosing among six frontrunners to take on the female lead opposite Ryan Reynolds, all of them from various TV series.
