While many of its fans are still chewing on the 13 episodes of the American web television drama series “House of Cards” Season 3 on Netflix following the release in its entirety on February 27, 2015, a number of the show’s fanatics have actually completed watching all the episodes and are in fact looking forward to Season 4.
For those who already had a headstart in completely watching all the 13 episodes of Season 3, many of them got dismayed of the very slow pace of the series that it seemed like that the entire storyline only moved just by a couple of hours from the ending of Season 2.
What many of the fans of the TV series find revolting in particular is how Frank’s Chief of Staff Douglas “Doug” Stamper, played by Michael Kelly, attempted in Season 2 to kill off Rachel Posner, played by Rachel Brosnhan but failed.
They pointed out that the storyline represented almost 13 hours of wheel-spinning and no forward motion in Season 2. Doug finally got the job done in Season 3 but the wasted hours during the slow pace of the storyline was really infuriating to viewers, whose patience have somehow grew thin watching the show.
A tedious series
“House of Cards” Season 3 has become a tedious series so fans who like watching the series should have the right amount of patience to watch what has become a suspense-deprived TV show.
According to TV Line, the third season of the show has actually left some fans feeling as cold as Claire Underwood’s body temperature. The show appeared to have upped its fancy with foreign affairs, gay rights, and campaign issues, and slow on character and plot development.
While Frank Underwood, played by Kevin Spacey, and Claire, played by Robin Wright, continue with their unholy alliance of convenience in the White House, it was very obvious that the series was already prepping Claire to become Frank’s main threat in Season 4 after Doug finally eliminated Rachel.
An explanation
TV Line also contends why the show had to kill off Rachel Posner who has already given the heart to the series but creator Beau Willimon explained that the plot was extensively discussed and Rachel became collateral damage in an effort of Doug to get back to Frank’s inner circle.
The only way for Doug to show his already stained loyalty to Frank is to tie up loose ends that have been hounding Frank and Claire Underwood for the most part of the three seasons of “House of Cards,” cites Willimon.
Doug had to show that he is willing to become a brother in blood to Frank and is ready to make the sacrifice for it too. If the Chief of Staff was not able to kill Rachel again in Season 3, he would again be back on the same stature or position as he was in Season 2. Because he was not truthful then, he and Frank had to pay a price for it.
