Michael Bay Actually Coming Back to Transformers 5? Latest Rumors Say So!

Rumors about “Transformers 5” have been claiming that the new film won’t be directed by Michael Bay, despite the director’s very successful work on the franchise so far. According to reports, “Transformers 4” brought in more than $250 million in profits, putting it in the first place in the rankings for most profitable films in 2014, so it only makes sense that Bay would want to return for the next production. And yet, there were some strong rumors that the director won’t be coming back.

That might not be true however, if the most recent rumors are true – unofficial reports about Michael Bay’s involvement in the film have become very contradictory, and it’s hard to say exactly what the director is planning for “Transformers 5”. If he really is planning to come back, he’s been doing a good job at keeping the audience guessing through a mix of positive and negative rumors.

Meanwhile, we got a confirmation that Mark Wahlberg will be returning in the new film, as him and Nicola Peltz will be taking the places of Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox respectively. In that case, we could realistically expect to see the setting of “Transformers 4” continued in the new film, and even expanded further. There was also an interview with Lorenzo de Bonaventura, executive producer for the film, who stated that the story will continue on Earth and not in Cybertron, contrary to what some rumors have been claiming.

Michael Bay previously said that the franchise still has a lot left to explore, but “that’s for the next director to figure out”, implying that he wasn’t going to be responsible for the film’s direction from now on. However, Wahlberg himself seems convinced of Michael Bay’s return, particularly since Bay has also tried his hand at other productions after “Transformers”.

He said this in a recent interview, and while he didn’t directly confirm Michael Bay’s return, he did say “something tells me we’ll be on the set soon”, so he likely knows something that’s currently hidden from the public eye. Many fans would surely be happy to see another “Transformers” produced by Michael Bay, as the director was, to a large extent, the creative force that defined the whole style of the film.

A new “Transformers” without Michael Bay can easily flop, as fans have grown attached to the director’s work – but of course, we never know who might come in his place and apply his own creative vision in a unique way that transforms the franchise into something better. Handing off the work to someone else might actually be a smart move for Michael Bay if he wants to keep the franchise alive and fresh in the long term.
