Theo James Believes that the Legend in Pacquiao Will Show up in His Fight Against Mayweather

Theo James, the star of “Divergent” and its upcoming sequel “Insurgent” is a huge fan of Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao.

The actor is not making any prediction as to who between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. would win in their mega-fight scheduled on May 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas but he is obviously rooting for Pacman.

James is wishing all the best for Pacquiao in his historic bout with the pound-for-pound king but he believes the Pacman does not need it because he is a legend. The actor also thinks that the legend in Pacquiao will show up in his fight against Mayweather and unveil to the whole world why he is one.

The “Insurgent” actor made the statement in an interview with a Philippine-based TV talk show as part of the promotions for his movie which hit theaters this weekend including those in the Philippines, cites Inquirer.net.

Theo James and his female co-star Shailene Woodley have earned a massive following in the Philippines and in many parts of the world after the successful release of their first movie together, the science fiction action film “Divergent” exactly one year ago from the current release date of the sequel “Insurgent.”

Incredible boxer, great personality

The English actor also admitted that he has been a long-time huge fan of Manny Pacquiao because the Filipino pugilist is an incredible boxer with a great personality.

Theo James is part of the growing list of international celebrities who have become a follower of the Filipino boxing superstar, who is certainly notches above in terms of humility and being soft-spoken when compared to Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather Jr.

Aside from an active boxer, Pacquiao is also a congressman for the Philippine House of Representatives, as well as a professional basketball player in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), Asia’s first professional basketball league. The Filipino boxing icon is also a devout Christian, which explains one major reason why he is a fan favorite compared to Money Mayweather. But the odds are stack up against the Pacman for their May 2 fight.

Will watch the fight on TV

Despite his interest on Pacquiao and his upcoming historic fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 2, Theo James said that he won’t be able to watch the fight live when it happens at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The 30-year-old English actor said that he intends to just catch the bout on TV since he had to attend to a friend’s wedding the day after the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight.

James has not personally met Manny Pacquiao in person but he would love to if given the opportunity in the not-so-distant future. He was even asked a hypothetical question if he was willing to play the role of Pacquiao in a movie. James simply laughed it off and said that he does not think it would ever happen.
