After the box-office success of “Fifty Shades of Grey,” actors Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson have since shot to stardom. The sexually-charged and erotic romance movie was so successful that there are now talks that a sequel to the film is now being considered and may actually be in the works soon.
During the promotions for “Fifty Shades of Grey” early this year, Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson have both appeared in the movie’s press tour and some media could not help notice the absence of chemistry between the stars.
The absence of chemistry seemed obvious that some media outlets actually described it as public display of no affection, which is the exact opposite of PDA.
Vanity Fair noted that a handful of theorists have observed the awkward talk-show appearances of Dornan and Johnson where they both looked uncomfortable and not as chummy as one might expect from two people who have experienced BDSM sex scenes in a movie.
Going on their own
A little over a month after the showing of “Fifty Shades of Grey,” the main actors of the film have started going on their respective public appearances.
Dakota has started appearing in various shows including “Saturday Night Live” while Jamie continues with his low-key and low-profile appearances.
However, the Daily Mail recently caught up with the Irish model turned actor where he was asked about the previous observations that he and actress Dakota Johnson have no chemistry at all during their promotional public appearances for “Fifty Shades of Grey.”
Jamie explained that if there was indeed no chemistry between him and Dakota, the producers would surely not have cast them at all in the movie.
He explained that in order to get the part for “Fifty Shades of Grey,” he and Dakota had to go through a lot of hurdles, including the determining the chemistry between them. So if the producers did not see it during the screening, they would simply not pick them both for the roles.
Success spells chemistry
With the worldwide box-office haul of “Fifty Shades of Grey” currently pegged at $529 million, Jamie Dornan needed not respond to those observations since the film has spoken for itself and his chemistry with Dakota was obviously seen by the millions of viewers who watched the film.
In fact, because of the huge success of the movie, Jamie and Dakota will already command a seven-figure sum for the sequel of the film compared to the $250,000 each that they were paid for “Fifty Shades of Grey.”
It was the same jump that Jennifer Lawrence made for “The Hunger Game” movie series. The actress was paid $500,000 for the first film. On the second film, J-Law has reportedly earned $10 million.
Jamie Dornan also denied rumors that his wife Amelia Warner is not in favor of him doing the sequel. He said that those speculations were untrue because he always shares the movie script with his wife the same way he did with “Fifty Shades of Grey” where Amelia was said to be very supportive.
