Lewis Hamilton Got Starstruck with Arnold Schwarzenegger at the Australian Grand Prix Podium

The Formula One racing season began on March 15 with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne. As expected, Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes came out the winner, continuing his winning ways from 2014.

Hamilton being on the podium of nearly all Grand Prix event has become routine in the Formula One sport racing but the Australian Grand Prix had a twist – a big Hollywood twist.

Instead of the usual Formula One sportscasters doing the interview with the winning racer, it was Arnold Schwarzenegger who pitched in. The 31-year-old F1 world champion is a self-confessed fan of Arnold Schwarzenegger growing up.

Lewis Hamilton was so starstruck upon seeing the “Terminator” actor on stage. The reigning F1 world champion was not able to say anything except quip the words, “Arnold Schwarzenegger, man!” obviously caught by surprise and elated with the moment, notes BBC.

The F1 champion racer was not able to utter any word after his first starstrucked line that he was quoted as saying “I thought you were taller” much to the delight and laughter of fans not only at the Australian Gran Prix awarding stage but also on TV as the event was televised worldwide too.

Typical Arnold

The “Expendables” actor also saw how starstruck Lewis Hamilton was on the podium so he responded well enough on the racer’s “I thought you were taller” quip by remarking “I haven’t got my heels on,” which also delighted the Melbourne crowd to no end, and most likely the global televiewers too.

Capping off the short awarding program was when Arnold and Lewis shouted together to the Melbourne fans “I’ll be back,” one of the actor’s memorable catchphrases in the blockbuster “Terminator.”

It was one of those historic moments in the Grand Prix podium and the Melbourne fans savoured every part of it, and most likely those global fans who have watched it.

Starstruck too

After the event, Arnold Schwarzenegger took to Twitter to share his experience with Lewis Hamilton on the Australian Grand Prix podium. The upcoming “Terminator 5” actor said that he was happy seeing the reigning Formula One world champion race at Melbourne.

Schwarzenegger also told Hamilton that he need not worry because he was likewise starstruck with the racer.

Several celebrities also saw how starstruck Hamilton was when he saw Schwarzenegger on the Australian Grand Prix podium. “Captain America” star Chris Evans was among those who noted it and he also tweeted about it by describing the moment when the racer got starstruck with the actor was quite hilarious.

Evans said that the remarks of Hamilton came out awkward, after being taken by the candid moment, but he and the rest of the world saw it very funny.
