While the Los Angeles Lakers sports a 17-46 win-loss record as of March 12, with 19 games remaining at its 2014-15 NBA season calendar, there seems to be a lot of minor bright spots going for the team.
In addition to rookie Jordan Clarkson who sprang a couple of game surprises as of late, power-forward Ed Davis appears to be having a breakout season with the struggling Lakers, after having been in the league for nearly five years and three teams.
But the most obvious bright spot for the Showtime team is Jeremy Lin. While he has been the subject of trade talks and playing below par or being the most overpaid player in Lakers uniform in the past, the 26-year-old Harvard graduate just took it as a professional should. He continued playing to the best of his abilities.
Jeremy Lin has had to struggle with the Lakers right at the start of the season as he had to live up to the expectations and pressure of playing alongside Kobe Bryant, he had to be benched by Lakers Coach Byron Scott at one point, and he had to endure being relegated from the starting unit to a bench player.
Any NBA player that had to go through such types of struggle would surely feel downtrodden, demoralized or worst lose his confidence playing basketball, but not Jeremy Lin, as he took everything in stride and worked on his game.
Persistence and perseverance pay off
While nearly everyone was telling how inconsistent his play was during the early part of the season, Jeremy allowed his game to do the talking.
The surgery on Kobe Bryant’s torn rotator cuff on his shoulder may have been the blessing in disguise that Jeremy Lin was waiting for as it became the turning point of his game with the Los Angeles Lakers.
He has become very aggressive with his game play. As a matter of fact, he has been scoring in double figures in 10 of the last 15 games of the Los Angeles Lakers, reports the Lakers Nation.
In the last 10 games since the NBA All-Star break, Jeremy Lin has been averaging 14.3 points per game on 45.6% shooting. He was also doing 6.3 assists per game in the team’s last seven games. Lin has actually led the team in scoring four times while coming off the bench.
Byron Scott acknowledges the improved game play of Jeremy Lin and cited in particular the point guard’s newfound aggressiveness, better-decision making on court, and better knowledge of the team offense.
Jeremy believes however that he has been very aggressive even before the NBA All-Star break. He said that he slowly began playing comfortable when he got the needed playing time which also resulted in him getting into the right rhythm which enabled him to start running at things.
More than those factors however, it’s actually the persistence and perseverance of Jeremy Lin to play through the challenges that paid off and he is now reaping the dividends of his exemplary approach to playing basketball.

Lin along with Jordan Hill and Ed Davis, has been the most consistent player on the Lakers after the DEMISE of Kobe. Kobe benched Lin and made it impossible for Lin to shine next to Kobe’s ultrabright ball-hogging ways. That’s the really story. Lin will do well on the Clippers, Spurs, or Hawks next season.
Kobrick is the most overpaid player on the team, not Lin your D.A.!
