Cartoon HD is still one of the hottest talks of the Internet. It was originally believed that the takedown of the app from major app stores was the end of it, and we wouldn’t hear anything else about it. However, the people behind the service are quite persistent, and have revived it in the form of a website.
Since then, the reincarnated Cartoon HD has not only been enjoying the same levels of popularity as its app predecessor, but according to some reports it’s even managed to surpass the original. At the same time, many people keep asking about the app version of the service – is it ever coming back, and when?
On the other hand, some are actually questioning whether Cartoon HD even needs to return to app stores at this point. Users know about the replacement website, and it’s compatible with a wide range of mobile devices, much like the old app. At the same time, its developers are not limited by the terms of service of different mobile platforms anymore, giving them much more freedom in what kinds of features they can implement.
So, with that in mind, should the developers of Cartoon HD even bother putting any effort into trying to revive the app, or should they focus on its new website version instead? Sticking to the website could actually be beneficial for them in the long run, if they are able to develop the service to its full potential.
Still, even the new Cartoon HD is not immune, as we’ve seen – the site went through a brief period of inactivity when it was rumored to have taken down. However, the fact that it was eventually reinstated led many to believe that this was just a temporary technical setback. And it would probably be significantly more difficult to take down an entire website as opposed to an app, depending on where it’s hosted.
One thing is clear from the whole ordeal though – there is a huge market demand for a service of this type right now, and whoever manages to fill that niche could end up very successful. The growth of Netflix and the way it has taken the market by storm is a clear indication that people are more than willing to pay for a service like that, as long as it’s developed well and offers lots of content.
There has even been speculation that this is the direction Cartoon HD is headed in, and they want to legitimize the service of eventually. However, that could potentially be very challenging to accomplish, given the number of different licenses that would have to be obtained. It would certainly have great potential though, according to experts, and could end up a successful and profitable service.
