It’s just a rumor so far, but there seem to be some very interesting developments around the set of “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” – namely, the claim that Al Pacino has joined the cast in the role of Star-Lord’s father, joining the fun with Peter Quill and his friends. So far, this hasn’t been confirmed officially, but we have strong reasons to believe it’s true.
On Twitter, James Gunn made a post revealing that he plans to add his “favorite superhero” to the sequel for “Guardians of the Galaxy”. And of course, speculation immediately started going around like crazy, with fans discussing all sorts of possibilities for who that might be. From Adam Warlock, to Beta Ray Bill or even Starhawk, there are many options – but interestingly enough, Gunn noted that the character might not even be a man, as he has never specified that himself.
According to IGN, we might see Phyla-Vell joining the ranks of female superheroes in “Guardians of the Galaxy 2”. She’s the daughter of the original Captain Marvel, and there is also speculation that she might be joined by Drax the Destroyer’s own daughter, Moondragon. Mantis, who was one of the Guardians in the original comic books, might also be joining the lineup.
As for Al Pacino, that’s a rumor that has actually been around for some time now, as it was previously speculated that the actor might be interested in a role in an upcoming Marvel film, although it wasn’t revealed which film that might be. It was said that Pacino had gone through some talks with Kevin Feige, head of the company, and according to reports, those talks were successful – so we just might get to see Pacino in the upcoming film.
Pacino himself hasn’t made any comments on the situation, nor have Marvel, so for now all we can do is wait until the movie is out to see if the actor really will be making an appearance in the new production. He can certainly contribute a lot to a Marvel film like “Guardians of the Galaxy 2”, and fans of the comic books have been ever since the rumors started going around.
There is still a lot to be revealed about the new film, and James Gunn’s “favorite” character that’s about to be included is also still up for discussions, but hopefully, we’ll get some more information from official sources soon. Fans are growing more and more impatient, and while all this hype could definitely be beneficial in the long run, it can also be helpful for the movie’s popularity if the producers decide to release a little more information occasionally.
