With No More Worthy Opponents in UFC, Ronda Rousey Goes Back to Filming Movies

After her scintillating and record-breaking destruction of Cat Zingano in the UFC 184 pay-per-view event on March 1, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has run out of worthy opponents in mixed martial arts that she went back to her other passion – doing movies.

The 28-year-old American champion first made her acting debut in “Expendables 3” last year with some of the biggest Hollywood names in action, notes Yahoo! Sports.

She has completed filming her scenes in the upcoming “Fast and Furious 7” and “Entourage.”

Rousey has just confirmed her role to her next movie project titled “Mile 22.” Rousey will play the role of CIA operative and will be paired with an Indonesian police officer to be played by Iko Uwais who also appeared in “The Raid.”

The two of them will battle extreme political corruption. “Mile 22” will be produced by Peter Berg based on a screenplay written by Graham Roland. With the slew of action movies that she has been doing, it is now becoming obvious that Hollywood people are trying to fast-tracked Ronda Rousey’s career as a true female action star.

Not a good champion

Because of the sweeping statements that Ronda Rousey no longer has worthy opponents in the UFC, some of her fighting contemporaries in the mixed martial arts business became a bit of upset, or jealous to be more precise.

Undefeated Brazilian bantamweight Bethe Correia believes that Rousey is not a good champion. She said that Ronda only cares about herself, about making movies, about dressing well, or pretending she is a good champion.

Correia said that the only thing good done by Ronda Rousey is bringing to the UFC the female fights. But she says that she would not be like Ronda and that she wants to be a real champion. She promised that she will do something for the people and not for herself alone because she would eventually be a people’s champion.

The 31-year-old Brazilian says that she has been looking to set a fight date with Ronda Rousey ever since breaking into the UFC women’s division.

Correia says that she has been doing everything possible so that she can convince Rousey to finally accept her challenge and agree to fight her. Her challenge makes sense since Rousey has done a thorough job cleaning in her division at the UFC.

Rousey dispatched her last two opponents in a combined time of 30 seconds which shows how strong and powerful she really is.

With the UFC short of women contenders for the title, Correia is obviously stirring the pot so that she can draw attention and get her name thrown into the mix for a possible fight with Rousey.

Correia said that she has been asking Ronda everyday to accept her challenge. She said that she will do everything she can and do whatever it takes. She said that she already feels like the champ in the women’s bantamweight division because she does not feel that Ronda is the real champ anyway.
