New ‘Alien’ Movie Will Put a Closure to Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley Character!

Contrary to initial reports that the new “Alien” movie will reboot the original movie series, the fifth Alien film to be directed by Neill Blomkamp will actually do a “Terminator 5” kind of approach.

The upcoming “Alien” movie will do away with “Alien 3” and “Alien Resurrection,” as if they never existed or shown at all, and will start the premise of the fifth film after “Aliens,” the second movie in the franchise.

Director Neill Blomkamp says that the signature of the “Alien” franchise was all over the first two movies so he will be making the fifth film based on those two films only.

With that in his mind, Sigourney Weaver has been confirmed for a role in the fifth Alien movie not as a lead star actually but for the purpose of having continuity to the story and plot of the series.

Weaver will be reprising his role of Ellen Ripley. But the idea of casting her apparently is to put a closure or retire her character for good.

During a recent interview, Sigourney said that she would love to take Ripley out of sort of orbiting around in space and give her a proper finish to what was such an excellent story, details Geeks of Doom.

So when she learned that Neill Blomkamp is interested in finishing the “Alien” story, she got a little excited because the series really needs a proper ending and the fans would really appreciate that too.

Genetic sibling of first two Alien films

In a recent interview with Sky Movies about the new “Alien” film, Blomkamp said that he wants the movie to be like the genetic sibling of the first two “Alien” films. He said that it should be “Alien,” “Aliens,” and then the fifth film.

Blomkamp has been working with Weaver over the past couple of months on a new sci-fi film “Chappie” starring Hugh Jackman.

When he was given the task of directing the next “Alien” film, Blomkamp was inspired to cast Sigourney on it to reprise her role in the four-film series directed previously by Ridley Scott.

Blomkamp also admitted during the interview that wanting to do the new “Alien” movie did have something to do with having Sigourney Weaver on “Chappie” because he said that the film has always been part of his dream to become part of, details the Sunshine Coast Daily of Australia.

The writer-director disclosed that he and Sigourney have talked about the “Alien” films and also asked the actress what she thought about her Ripley character and how he plans into integrating all of this into making a different film for the franchise.

What’s good about Blomkamp is that he is already picturing the end of Ellen Ripley’s story on the fifth “Alien” film and is no longer concerned about connecting his movie with the final two “Alien” films.
